Accounting Manager, Compliance

The Accounting Manager, Compliance role will be responsible for overseeing the preparation and submission of filings to government agencies and the accuracy of the underlying data that supports them. The primary focus will be filings of electoral data to the FEC and state agencies.  This person will be a key player in process improvements, new products, etc. that enhance these filings processes. The accuracy and reconciliation of underlying data for these filings warrants a strong accounting background with attention to detail and compliance mindset.

ResponsibilitiesManage a team of two or more team members to file electoral compliance reports timely and accuratelyTrack financial activity of certain areas on a regular basis and take full ownership of tracking mechanisms of those Assist with entity-wide financial statement evaluation and preparation as it relates to compliance needsServe as a key player and subject matter expert in process improvements during off-peak timesReconcile electoral filings to the accounting system and to other sourcesOther ad hoc accounting and compliance projects as neededKnowledge and Skills You Bring to the OrganizationBachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance5+ years of accounting, tax, or other accounting/compliance experienceAbility to manage multiple deadlines and tasks simultaneouslyExperience supervising a team of at least two to three professionalsStrong working knowledge with Microsoft Office suite, particularly ExcelDesire to work in a fast-paced environmentAttention to detail, particularly with populating reports/filings with financial dataEntrepreneurial mindsetPreferred QualificationsPublic accounting or other client-facing experience Experience with electoral compliance, campaign finance, or other political activitiesExposure to a nonprofit and/or political organization’s environmentFamiliarity with Sage Intacct, CMDI/Crimson, or Concur systemsInterest in current events, particularly with respect to governmental & political newsWhat We OfferA meaningful career where your work will improve the lives of millions of Americans – especially the least fortunateA vision-driven community of over 1,000 employees across the country who are dedicated to improving the lives of othersCompetitive salaries and bonuses.
