Axient is seeking an Aerospace Structural Engineer to support our Air Force SEEK EAGLE Office (AFSEO) Modeling, Analysis, and Tools (SEMATS) contract at Eglin AFB, Fort Walton Beach, FL.  This Aerospace Structural Engineer will perform airworthiness and safety of flight evaluations of a wide variety of weapon systems and aircraft carriage platforms.

What you will do...

Primary Duties & Responsibilties:

Evaluate the structural integrity of aircraft, weapons, and suspension carriage systems based on approved loads, stress analysis and test methods and provide sound carriage limit recommendationsDevelop and execute sophisticated aircraft load prediction tools for predicting aircraft and weapon inertia and aerodynamic loads and environmentsDevelop and execute safe, efficient flight test plansReduce and interpret flight test dataAssess analysis approaches and results, define any required testing, and ensure all structural integrity requirements are met Skills you will need...

Required Skills:

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Aeronautical Engineering and 3 years of experience or Master's degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Aeronautical Engineering and 2 years of experience. Experience in weapon systems development, integration, structural analysis, and testing.

The engineer should be familiar with aerospace airworthiness requirements and have experience with aerospace design and analysis methods including external loads, internal loads and stress analysis methods, and ground and flight testing.  The engineer should have a working knowledge of strength of materials, aerodynamics, numerical analyses, and computer programming. Specifically, the engineer must be able to utilize, and modify existing analysis software for predicting aircraft and store loads. External load analysis experience shall include aircraft maneuver response and dynamic response from transient or cyclical loads.  

The candidate should have excellent communication (both written and verbal) and interpersonal skills and experience with Windows operating environment and Microsoft Office products.

 

Desired Skills:

Knowledge of aircraft environments and weapon system environmental qualification testing is desired. Familiarity with one or more programming languages (e.g., Matlab, Fortran, Python, C/C++) is highly desired.  Skills in Finite Element Modelling and Analysis methods are also desired.
