Analyst II, Payroll Operations

Under guidance from management, this position will work closely with our Payroll Support Team to support the daily processing of payroll tasks such as defensive audits, off-cycles, and support tickets as well as the processing of weekly and bi-weekly payroll processing for 30,000 associates. This position will also focus on ways to streamline processes by identifying and implementing more efficient ways to collect, analyze and process payroll data. This job also requires a continual interaction with the Payroll Operations and Support teams and various internal departments.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Review escalated pay concerns and assist the Payroll Support Team with resolution.
· Analyze payroll ticket data to assist with the development of payroll policies and procedures, contingency plans and process improvement initiatives by leveraging existing tools and processes.
· Analyze pay discrepancies and make pay change recommendations based on established policies or guidance from business partners
· Provide excellent customer service by assisting the Support Team with responding to questions and/or concerns in a positive, professional and friendly manner through internal ticketing system.
· Process payroll in multiple states under strict deadlines while ensuring all entries and system outputs comply with all local, state and federal laws.
· Research, analyze and resolve payroll related audit concerns by collecting and evaluating information necessary to make the pay calculation adjustments.
· Peer review the work of other team members and provide feedback when applicable.
· Analyze and process off-cycle pay, including final payments, special payments, adjustments and reversals.
· Special projects as assigned.

+ Work Location and Arrangement: This role will be based out of the CarMax Home Office in Richmond, VA and have a Hybrid work arrangementWork Authorization: Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
· Four year degree in Accounting, Finance, Information Technology or equivalent business experience preferred
· 5+ years of Multi-State; Multi-Company Payrolls preferred
· Strong understanding of Payroll Taxes and Payroll Labor Laws
· Computer skills: Advanced Excel and MS Access
· Experience with HCM and Payroll systems including reporting tools
· Workday, ADP, Kronos experience preferred
· CPP or FPC preferred
