NVA Equine is seeking to hire an Area Manager to support our ongoing growth. The Area Manager is responsible for supporting practice leadership, general operations, NVA Equine programs and initiatives, and revenue/EBITDA growth within the region of responsibility. This role acts as a liaison between the NVA Equine Support Center and the veterinary practices and performs duties at the direction of the Sr. Manager of Regional Operations and Group Leader. The successful candidate will maintain the exceptional relationships that have been built with Practice Leadership and their teams over the years, extending that capability into new practices as they are acquired. The Area Manager will work directly with veterinary practices, elevating support, employee engagement and financial performance. They will identify best practices, in collaboration with Practice Leadership and veterinarians, identify and implement local growth initiatives.

SPECIFIC AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:

Practice Operations

* Acts as a collaborative liaison between Practices, NVA Equine Support Center, and Field Operations

* Acquires and maintains knowledge of organizational and local practice policies and procedures.
* systems for reporting and training.
* Ensures proper staff scheduling/optimization.
* Analyzes and interprets operational reports and identifies areas for improvement.
* Implements and champions NVA Equine initiatives as a change manager.
* Efficiently manages time, balancing the priorities of multiple Practices.

Strategic Planning and Leadership
* Collaborates with the Practice Leadership to create an overall strategy and obtains buy-in and alignment with staff.
* Creates action plans, sets and manages goals, delegates tasks, and tracks performance.
* Works with the Sr. Manager of Regional Operations and Practice leadership to develop strategic plans
* Analyzes and improves systems, policies, and processes.
* Plans, organizes, and leads regional meetings.

Practice Leader Development
* Effectively trains new managers and provides ongoing development via check-ins.
* Mentors, coaches, and sets expectations with Practice Leadership and staff.
* Ensures Practice Managers are trained in financial and operational systems and methods.

Financial Management
* Analyzes the financial health of Practices and diagnoses financial issues using appropriate reports.
* Oversees the management of costs, particularly labor.
* Manages revenue growth and EBITDA performance of portfolio.

People Management
* Manages the performance management cycle from interviewing and hiring to counseling and terminating staff and assists Practice Managers with personnel issues/problems in partnership with HR
* Ensures Practices comply with all Federal and State human resource policies (I-9, DEA, OSHA).
* Conducts Practice Manager performance reviews and partners with L&D to guide career development.
* Makes recommendations for staff training and development.

Client Relations
* Develops, champions, and oversees client acquisition and retention initiatives.
* Directs and oversees tactics for increasing new client visits.
* Effectively assesses the quality of service and provides direction for enhancing quality.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
* Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education preferred.
* Knowledge of veterinary practice management software, such as EzyVet/HVMS, preferred.
* Knowledge of practice management processes, efficiencies, standards, metrics and benchmarks.
* Must be self-directed and able to work independently.
* Skilled in financial management, planning, prioritizing, and supervising.
* Needs to function as a practice management consultant and provide direction for improvement.
* Demonstrates sound judgment, good problem-solving and decision-making ability and takes initiative.
* Skilled in establishing and maintaining effective work relationships with medical, administrative, and support staff, while maintaining confidentiality when necessary.
* Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in written form and will require some presenting and training.
* Ability to meet deadlines and provide prompt attention to practice staff.
* Ability to travel a up to 20% of the time
