Instruction & Curriculum Development: • Develop and implement a dynamic and creative visual arts curriculum that aligns with state standards and the school’s educational goals. • Teach basic art concepts, including drawing, painting, sculpture, and other forms of visual art. • Encourage creative expression and exploration in various media, techniques, and styles. • Plan and execute projects that integrate art with other subjects to enhance interdisciplinary learning. Classroom Management: • Create a positive, respectful, and inclusive classroom environment. • Manage student behavior and ensure a safe, productive atmosphere for learning. • Foster a growth mindset and encourage students to take artistic risks. Assessment & Feedback: • Assess students' artwork and progress, providing constructive feedback to help them improve their skills. • Monitor individual student development and tailor instruction to meet the needs of all learners, including those with special needs or varying levels of artistic ability. Collaboration & Communication: • Collaborate with other faculty members to integrate art with the broader school curriculum. • Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding students’ progress, achievements, and areas for improvement. • Participate in school events, including art shows, exhibitions, and community outreach programs. Professional Development: • Stay updated on the latest trends and techniques in art education. • Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and art knowledge. Job Qualifications - New York State Teacher Certification in Art Education K-12 - Strong knowledge of various art techniques, materials, and tools suitable for elementary-aged children. - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. - A passion for fostering creativity and self-expression in young learners.
