AS400/IBM  I Technician /Analyst

Great opportunity with growing Intl Company in Cypress/ Houston area. Hybrid role onsite 2-3 days a week

Looking for a great candidate for an open contract to permanent position specifically for an AS400/IBM 

Not looking for a programmer, we need someone to help maintain and optimize the AS/400

1.      Must be able to validate system overall health and make recommendations:  storage capacity, processor/memory allocations, subsystems, message queues, job queues, job descriptions, user profiles, IFS, backup and recovery

2.      Must understand the following concepts:  backup and recovery (save/restores/retentions),  disaster recovery, data replication, communications protocols (FTP, SFTP, SSH, etc…), encryption/decryption, managing multiple partitions (LPARS), anti-virus/malware

 

 

Position Summary 

IBM i experience, leveraging analytical skills and experience with IBM i to support and enhance business operations.  

Position Responsibilities 

May include: 

1.       Data Analysis: Collect, analyze, and interpret data from the IBM i system to provide actionable insights and reports for management and other stakeholders. 

2.       IBM i System Management: Maintain and optimize the IBM i (AS/400) system, including monitoring system performance, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring data integrity. 

3.       Data Integration: Collaborate with IT teams to integrate IBM i data with other systems and databases, ensuring seamless data flow and accuracy. 

4.       Report Generation: Create and automate reports using IBM i data, presenting findings in a clear and understandable format for non-technical stakeholders. 

5.       Data Security: Assist in implementing and maintaining data security measures on the IBM i system, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations. 

6.       Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including IT, finance, and operations, to identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency gains through data analysis. 

7.       Documentation: Maintain documentation related to IBM i processes, configurations, and data management procedures for future reference and compliance purposes.

Knowledge & Skills 

1.       IBMi (AS/400): Knowledge of the IBM i operating system, its architecture, features, and capabilities are essential. This includes entry level understanding of system libraries, object management, security, backup and recovery, job scheduling, and performance monitoring. 

2.       Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to turn data into actionable insights. 

3.       Communication: Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to convey technical information to non-technical stakeholders. 

4.       Team Player: Collaborative mindset and the ability to work effectively in a team environment. 

5.       Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy and attention to detail when working with data and system configurations. 

6.       Adaptability: Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and tools.
