Job Summary:

We have an immediate opportunity for Assembler Microelectronic Components Sr at our El Segundo Space Electronics Factory. You will assemble, modify, rework, repair, plan, fabricate, troubleshoot, complex developmental and production microelectronic circuit assemblies from released or preliminary work instructions. Requires minimal supervision daily to perform and complete assigned work and tasks.


*2nd Shift – 1:00PM – 10:30PM (9/80, Schedule B) – El Segundo, CA. This position is an onsite role.*


Responsibilities to Anticipate:

Works from preliminary design drawings, planning and process control documents, quality control standards, specifications, oral and written instructions.

Interprets and applies experience and judgement to determine the most appropriate method to correlate design and development requirements.

Assembles, modifies and reworks electronic and mechanical assemblies, sub-assemblies, printed wiring boards, standard/non-stand modules, and unit assemblies.

Performs soldering, wire preparation, crimping, torquing, and touch-up conformal coating operations. Inspects own work through the assembly process for compliance with established acceptance procedures.

Positions and connects parts, wires, and cables within the process of electronic and mechanical assembly tasks to ensure they are reasonably accessible for removal and replacement and are mechanically connected and soldered according to prescribed standards.

May assist in the development of new processes, as well as providing feedback and assistance in the preparation of course outlines, lesson plans, training manuals, and necessary training aids.

Performs alternate wiring assembly installation using isopads and jumper wire per written work instructions to prescribed standards. Assembles, installs, routes and bonds wire harnesses and standard coax cables.

Uses and operates ovens, hotplates, basic measuring devices, hand and power tools and equipment such as screwdrivers, torque tools, microscopes, wire strippers, crimping tools, soldering irons, hot tweezers, go/no-go test devices, and DVM’s.

Ability to utilize computer equipment to record and enter data, attendance, labor inputs and retrieval of information.

Self-verify developmental and production microelectronic assemblies, performs first article for conformance to quality standards.

Diagnose the cause of malfunctions and make necessary adjustments, as well as helping personnel in lower related job classifications.

On occasion applies standard production adhesives, epoxies and cements to bond, conformal coat, seal or stake in the performance of individual job duties.

Provide feedback to supervisor or cognizant engineer changes in position of components or parts to allow for service loops, wire and cable paths; recommends other changes for ease of assembly or disassembly.

Basic Qualifications:

Experience in a manufacturing environment (includes military training in assembly and processes).

Experience with soldering electronic components, fine pitch leads and wires.

Experience with interpreting technical specifications and/or drawings.

High School Diploma, GED or equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications:

J-STD-001 Space Addendum Certification.

Associates degree in Electronics or equivalent.

Additional Information:

The hourly range for this role is $26.57 to $44.67. The hourly range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

This position is part of a collective bargaining agreement. Wage and workplace conditions, including shift times, are subject to this agreement. Individuals hired into this position will be represented by a union.

Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance employees, as they are essential to the development of our products.

Hybrid: Employees who are working in Hybrid roles will work regularly both onsite and offsite.  Ratio of time working onsite will be determined in partnership with your leader.

Remote: Employees who are working in Remote roles will work primarily offsite (from home).  An employee may be expected to travel to the site location as needed.
