Assistant Athletic Director for Executive Affairs
Position Summary:

The University of Dayton's Athletics department invites qualified applicants to apply for our Assistant Athletic Director for Executive Affairs opening!

The Assistant Athletic Director for Executive Affairs reports directly to the Vice President and Athletic Director and serves as a member of the executive team. This position supports the cross-functional capability of the Vice-President and Director of Athletics office among the various direct reports, committees, constituents and functions with an intentional focus on basketball and high impact sports. The successful candidate will combine internal operations with an outward looking; externally focused orientation that informs sports programs how to respond to a rapidly evolving business and regulatory environment. This position includes general executive team expectations that helps manage the overall direction and strategy for the organization with the Vice President and other executive team members, with a specific focus on organizational agility and leading initiatives across different areas of the Division on a project-by-project basis. While this role includes generalist and project based responsibilities, the position will be responsible for the following:

Duties and Responsibilities:

- Lead execution of high-priority strategic and outward looking initiatives and projects that may include data driven research, industry trends, and peer group comparisons through gathering and analyzing financial and athletic performance data.
- Conduct analysis and recommendations to respond to change within intercollegiate athletics and the impact on sports programs with clear takeaways from complex information into simple strategies that influence success of basketball and other sports programs.
- Provide important operational support for the athletic director’s office on issues pertaining to the evolving NCAA landscape, new governance and business models, and their impact on sports programs, with a specific focus on basketball.
- Identify, develop and execute innovative strategies that enhance sports programs in a radically changing macroeconomic and regulatory college sports environment (NIL, deregulation, regulatory influence, etc.) where priorities are constantly evolving and anticipates and responds to external threats and changes within intercollegiate athletics.
- Establish and maintain trust-based relationships with external stakeholders, donors, season ticket holders and other industry influencers that advance our initiatives. Represent the athletic director in meetings and calls when necessary, and conduct key constituent meetings with a visible presence in the community and key industry stakeholders at games, events, meetings and other public functions expanding the reputation of athletics.
- Serve as a member of the sports administration group, oversees the administration of sport program(s) as assigned with special focus on basketball, along with other sports(s), initially football and baseball.

This position is expected to comply with all laws, policies, rules and regulations governing the University, the NCAA and the Atlantic 10 and is expected to project a positive image while representing the University of Dayton Athletics nationally as appropriate.

Minimum Qualifications:

- Bachelor degree
- 4 years of full-time professional work experience in athletics administration, coaching, sport operation or related field
- 4 years of experience on the staff or immediate support role of a Division 1 men’s basketball program or professional basketball team
- Experience with basketball statistics, analytics and other data
- Experience with men’s basketball scheduling, pre-season multi-team exempt events, postseason NCAA basketball
- Experience dealing with issues such as NIL, transfer portal, conference realignment, and regulatory change
- Technical aptitude, critical thinking and research skills
- Quantitative and analytical skills
- Proficiency with Excel, PowerPoint, data visualization and interpretation (samples may be requested)
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Valid driver’s license with low risk driving record and able to be insured by the university
- Able to work non-traditional hours including nights, weekends, and holidays

Preferred Qualifications:

While not everyone may possess all of the preferred qualifications, the ideal candidate will bring many of the following:

- Experience with the NCAA men’s basketball championship as a participant or host
- Experience with basketball analytics
- Experience with branding
- Experience working with socially and culturally diverse communities
