Assistant Director Research Applications and Development

Health Sciences Information Technology provides technology support for the six schools of the Health Sciences at the University of Pittsburgh. The team works to enhance the IT strategy in the Health Sciences and develop a technology organization and platform that supports education, research, and clinical activities. The team can enable the delivery of IT services to meet the goals of the Health Sciences, simplify the environment, and enhance services overall.Health Sciences IT is seeking a Applications and Development Manager. This position is a working manager in that they will develop and support end user projects and supervise the Applications and Development team. The candidate will design and develop custom applications to support research across the schools of the health sciences and support their team in doing so. The incumbent must be a skilled web app developer using C#/.NET 6 or higher and React. The candidate must understand microservice architecture and how to build and secure APIs. The applications are typically hosted in Azure using serverless architecture with CI/CD pipelines. The incumbent will also support various purchased software products that are used across the schools of the health sciences. In some cases this will involve gathering API requirements during implementation and connecting to other university systems to pull in data from various systems. Experience working in Scrum/Agile environment is preferred. The ideal candidate will have 5 or more years of development experience with the above frameworks and some experience leading teams. Required skills are C#/.Net 6 and React and connecting to RDMS or NoSQL data backends with APIs and microservices. Experience with health data or applications and REDCap are preferred but not required.
