Associate Vice President of Human Resources

The AVP of Human Resources is responsible for ensuring that all human capital management and Human Resources strategies align with the University’s strategic direction to help Belmont University fulfill its mission and vision. The AVP of Human Resources provides forward-looking, dynamic and responsive policies that will attract and retain a diverse and highly qualified faculty and staff.  The AVP of Human Resources is committed to building organizational best practices to deliver high quality HR transactions involving professional and organizational development, performance management and compensation processes, benefit programs, and employment for all staff and faculty. 

Primary position responsibilities include:

Develop and implement Human Resources strategies and practices consistent with Belmont University’s overall strategic plan. Provide overall leadership and guidance to the HR function by overseeing all areas including employee relations, recruiting, training and development, leadership development, compensation and benefits.  Manage the plans, priorities, goals, budget and personnel of the Human Resources Office.Provide strategic counsel to executive leadership in all human capital matters serving as a trusted advisor. Lead and/or serve on various strategic university task forces and committees including primary responsibility for the Human Capital Group.Develop, implement and monitor HR systems and programs that support administration, supervisors and employees in maintaining an effective work place. This includes ensuring competitive salary and benefits packages necessary to attract and retain highly qualified staff and faculty; developing and managing a staff performance management system to foster a positive and productive work environment; providing consultative oversight for organizational development programs to ensure professional development plans and opportunities for employees; providing oversight for employee engagement surveys, interpretation and recommendations for the university; and developing and overseeing staff and faculty recruitment programs, providing guidance to hiring managers in the selection process and providing goals and processes for increasing diversity. Provide oversight, development, communication and implementation of guidelines, policies and programs for compliance issues and regulations; serve as AA/EEO coordinator and Deputy Title IX Coordinator and primary contact for all Title IX and Title VII issues involving employees. Draft, revise and interpret personnel policy and procedures and serve as primary advisor regarding HR issues regarding trends and changes in employment laws. The above statements describe the job’s essential responsibilities and requirements.
