We provide rehabilitation services across the continuum - acute care hospitals, long term care facilities, sub-acute rehabilitation, homecare, outpatient centers, and in community settings such as senior centers, work sites, and schools and colleges. We offer over 30 outpatient locations with a variety of specialists, including oncology, women’s health, sports medicine, physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech language, we are known for our commitment to high quality, customer focused outcomes. *Job Schedule: Full Time - 10 Months* *Standard Hours: 40* *Overview:* We are seeking a Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC) to provide services at Connecticut College. Our Athletic Trainers provide injury prevention, evaluation, emergency and non-emergency management of athletic injuries and medical conditions, short- and long-term rehabilitation of athletic injuries, education and counseling of student-athletes regarding athletic related health issues, and athletics related health care administration. Assumes responsibility for adherence to rules and regulations governing the College, NESCAC and the NCAA. Performs all duties in full support of the College’s mission, understanding that the positive and effective execution of these duties are instrumental to the education of the College’s students. Flexible hours; evening, weekend and holiday may be necessary. Includes some travel with athletic teams. *Duties:* 1. Become familiar with and adhere to all Connecticut College and Department of Physical Education and Athletics, rules, policies, and procedures. 2. Assist theDirector of Sports Medicinewith medical clearances of student-athletes. 3. Conduct oneself with the highest ethical and moral standards in regards to behavior in the service of the College on and off campus and in relationships with students and members of the College community. 4. Cover varsity intercollegiate athletic events at home or away as scheduled by theDirector of Sports Medicine. 5. Cover varsity team practices as assigned by theDirector of Sports Medicine. 6. Attend Sports Medicine Staff Meetings as scheduled by theDirector of Sports Medicine. 7. Evaluate injuries from minor to life-threatening and provide both emergency and non-emergency care as needed, including immediate and long-term therapeutic care. 8. Cover Sports Medicine Facility hours as assigned by theDirector of Sports Medicine. 9. Keep thorough documentation of all injury management from first contact to full recovery. 10. Maintain communication with coaching staff regarding injury management and a student-athlete’s progression toward return to play. 11. Educate student-athletes as to health, healing, risk of sports, and related wellness issues. 12. Assist in the supervision and direction of Work Study Student Aides. 13. Help to maintain a safe, clean, and functional Sports Medicine Facility. 14. Ensure universal precautions for bloodborne pathogens are followed in compliance with OSHA rules and regulations. 15. Maintain current Athletic Trainer Certification by the Board of Certification, as well as Athletic Trainer Licensure by the Connecticut State Department of Public Health. 16. Maintain current certification in CPR and AED at the Healthcare Provider or Professional Rescuer level. 17. Other healthcare relatedduties as assigned or as necessary. 1. Master’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization. 2. At least two years of experience that is directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified is preferred, but not required. 3. Current BOC certification and CT State Athletic Trainer License by start date. 4. Current certification in CPR/AED for Healthcare Provider or Professional Rescuer. 5. Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations. 6. Knowledge of OSHA rules and regulations. 7. Ability to interact well with a variety of people from all aspects of the College and community. 8. Strong computing skills including knowledge of Google Workplace appsand MS Office. 9. Strong written and verbal communication skills. 10. High integrity to manage confidential information, especially Protected Health Information (PHI). The successful candidate will: - Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as strong interpersonal skills. - Be self-motivated and able to work independently, as well as function strongly within a team environment. - Be able to function successfully with physicians and other members of Allied Health Care team and be comfortable in a matrix organization with multiple reporting responsibilities. - Display strong customer service skills and aptitude and be able to represent both clinic and practice in a positive manner outside of the clinic and within the community.
