 Job Summary:
The Banquet Captain plays a crucial role in the success of events at the Fenway Hotel. This position is responsible for leading the banquet team during events, ensuring all aspects of service meet the highest standards of quality and guest satisfaction. The Banquet Captain coordinates all elements of the event from setup to breakdown, oversees staff performance, and acts as the liaison between the event planners, kitchen staff, and guests. They ensure that events run smoothly, efficiently, and that all guest expectations are met or exceeded.

Reports to: Banquet Manager
Employment Status: Full-Time
Hours: Vary by event; this is a full-time position with a rotating schedule based on business needs, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Salary: $12.00 per hour plus a portion of the gratuity pool.

What You Have:

High school diploma or equivalent; further hospitality training is a plus.Previous experience in banquet services or event management, preferably in a leadership role.Strong leadership and customer service skills.Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.Proficient in managing teams during events.Knowledge of food service regulations and standards.Ability to coordinate multiple aspects of event service simultaneously.A strong sense of ownership and responsibility.Proven ability to handle complex logistics in a calm and professional manner.

What You’ll Do:

Oversee the execution of all banquet events at the hotel, ensuring each event runs smoothly and meets the established standards of quality.Lead and motivate a team of banquet staff, assigning duties and providing guidance as needed.Coordinate with the culinary team to ensure timely execution of food service.Communicate effectively with clients and guests to understand their needs and ensure their satisfaction.Manage the setup and breakdown of events, ensuring all details are handled according to the client's specifications.Conduct pre-event briefings and post-event debriefings with staff to review performance and identify areas for improvement.Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations.Handle administrative tasks related to event management, such as scheduling staff and managing inventory.Resolve any issues that arise during events promptly and professionally.

Physical Demands:

Ability to stand or walk for extended periods during events.Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment and supplies up to 50 lbs.Capability to manage physically demanding tasks during event setups and breakdowns.

Mental Demands:

Excellent organizational and leadership skills.Ability to multitask and manage time effectively under pressure.Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make quick decisions.Capacity to manage and motivate a diverse team in a high-stress environment.
