Are you driven by the mission of empowering students to overcome behavioral challenges and thrive academically? Join us at Making Waves Academy as a Behavior Support Specialist, where you'll play a vital role in providing targeted interventions to students with complex behavioral needs.

 

As a Behavior Support Specialist grades 5-12th at Making Waves Academy in Richmond, CA, you will be responsible for collaborating with the Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) team to develop systems and provide comprehensive care in the Wellness Center. This will include facilitating drop-in sessions, teaching coping skills, creating a calming environment, and conducting small group sessions. The role involves overseeing student progress on behavior and performance, implementing behavior intervention programs for specific students, and fulfilling assigned administrative tasks.

Responsibilities Collaborate within a multidisciplinary team to assess and implement specialized student plans (IEP, BIP, 504)Provide behavioral intervention to decrease disruptive or harmful behaviors and promote positive alternativesSupport Positive Behavior Intervention Systems (PBIS) through classroom- and school-wide training and coachingCoach staff to enhance their skills and capacityMonitor and support the implementation of behavior intervention plansCollect and maintain data on student progress and behavior through formal documentationLead academic, social skill-building, and recreational activities for studentsEngage families to increase their involvement in schoolParticipate in professional learning communities for ongoing development and support Qualifications

Required:

Bachelor’s degree in Social Social Work/Psychology/CounselingAbility and willingness to work independently in the office, at school sites, and at times in the communityMust be at least 21 years of ageOwn vehicle, Valid California driver's license and insurability with Seneca's automobile policyTB test clearance, fingerprinting clearance, and any other state/federal licensing or certification requirementsMust show proof of COVID-19 vaccination

Preferred:
