Summary:

The Biomed Tech will maintain and repair medical center equipment in accordance with medical center practices, regulatory and other governing agencies.

 

Experience/Education Requirements:

High School Diploma or GED RequiredManufacturer training on any equipment presently owned by Riverside Medical Center is preferred.

License or Certification Requirements:

CBET (Certified Biomedical Equipment Technician) or CCE (Certified Clinical Engineer) preferred.

 

Responsibilities:
Assists in the management of equipment to ensure that all state, federal and manufacturers' standards are followed and in compliance.Document equipment including inventories, repair histories, testing procedures, training, etc.Follows policies and procedures.Maintain accurate documentation.Maintain and repair assigned medical equipment.Perform operational safety tests on equipment in assigned areas.Proper use and maintenance of all medical and electronic equipment.Recommends to manager for equipment replacement and budgeting considerations.Test and calibrate equipment so it is safe to use on patients.Testing procedures written and kept current for all assigned equipment.Work orders filled out for time accounting and equipment historical information.

Exposure to:
Chemicals: General cleaning solvents, dependent on equipment being serviced.
Video Display Terminals: Average
Blood and Body Fluids: Techs work on suction equipment, lab, urinalysis equipment, blood gas, centrifuges, and co-oximeters.
TB or Airborne Pathogens: Techs may have to enter rooms of patients to assist nurse with equipment problems.

Sensory requirements (speech, vision, smell, hearing, touch):
Speech: Required to communicate during presentations/training, telephone communication, facilitate meetings, communication with staff.
Vision: Needed to read memos and literature, read information to input into computer and check computer screen for accuracy.
Smell: Helpful to note presence of electrical/fire safety.
Hearing: Needed for telephone communication, meetings, alarms and listening to visitor/employee concerns.
Touch: Needed to write, computer entry, filing.
