QUALIFICATIONS:

Perform blasting & painting functions in areas as scheduled by the coating foreman. Sandblast and paint pipe equipment. Provide quality workmanship according to specifications free of sags, runs, holidays and overspray. Attend and participate in pre-job meetings. Attend and participate in safety meetings. Prepare JSEA’s. Assist in job load-outs. Mixing paint, cleaning paint pot & spray guns. Performing maintenance and repairs on personal and company owned tools and equipment. Shovel or pour specified grade abrasives such as sand, grit, or shot into machine hopper. Assisting other departments as a rigger and/or helper when needed and/or as directed. Maintain good housekeeping in the work area as well the living quarters and bathing facilities. Mask specified areas to protect from abrading action. Load parts from racks in enclosed rooms into tumbling barrels or cabinets. Turn valves on equipment to regulate pressure and composition of abrasive mixture flowing through nozzle or into tumbling barrel. Start equipment that directs blast or flow of abrasive laden compressed air, gas, or liquid over surface parts. Examine finished parts to ensure conformance to specifications. Read work orders or receive instructions from supervisor regarding painting. Smooth and remove old paint from surfaces to prepare for new paint. Select pre-mixed paint or mix required portions of pigment, oil, thinning and drying substances to prepare paint that matches specified colors. Paint surfaces with brush, spray gun, or paint roller. Erect scaffolding or set up ladders or spider to perform tasks above ground level.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Minimum of two (2) years offshore sandblasting and spray painting experience. Minimum of three (3) years cable rigging offshore. Minimum of two (2) years of operating a spider offshore. Valid driver’s license. Valid TWIC card. THUET certified. Dependable transportation and phone (home or cell). Must be able to work with minimal supervision. Must be willing and able to work a 12-16 hour shift per day for the duration of a 14/7 offshore schedule. Must be able to work without cell phone and/or internet communication with friends and family during normal working hours. Must be able to work without tobacco interruptions until scheduled breaks and lunch times. Must be able to work from swinging scaffolding. Must be able to wear a dust mask and/or paint respirator. Must be able to lift objects weighting up to 100 pounds, able to stand, climb, sit, squat, stretch, bend over and/or walk for long periods of time. Must be able to commute offshore via boat and/or helicopter. Must be clean shaven and exhibit good personal hygiene. Manlift and forklift certified. Have the ability, desire and attitude to work as a team member. Be familiar and in compliance with company policies, safety practices, processes & procedures. Must have a clear understanding of how to navigate and decipher the contents of an MSDS book. Adapt to sudden changes concerning project work scopes, while under pressure, provoked by time-constraints and/or inclement weather. Operational knowledge of, and the ability to trouble-shoot, all blasting and painting tools and equipment. Interpersonal skills to cooperate and communicate effectively with others on the job.
