Operate, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain heating and domestic hot water boilers. Operate, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain low pressure steam boilers. Cut and re-tube fire-side and water-side boiler tubes. Troubleshoot, repair/replace, and maintain centrifugal pumps and motors. Replace fuses, switches, contactors, and electrical wiring to repair installed boilers. Fires boiler. Observes and interprets readings on gauges, meters, and charts which register various aspects of boiler operation. Adjusts controls to ensure safe and efficient boiler operation and to meet demands for steam or high-temperature water. May also do one or more of the following: Maintain a log in which various aspects of boiler operation are recorded. Follow prescribed methods, treat boiler water with chemicals and analyze boiler water for such things as acidity, causticity, and alkalinity. Must have a minimum of five (5) years recent/related experience and a valid Boiler Operator License.   Must have current driver’s license and a clean motor vehicle report (MVR). Must successfully pass pre-employment drug/alcohol screen and background check. Must be able to effectively read, write, and speak the English language.
