The University of Miami Health System at Doral has an exciting opportunity for a full-time Cardiac Ultrasound Technologist with a hire date of June 2024. The University of Miami Health System will soon open the second phase to our state-of-the-art facility in Downtown Doral that serves as a western hub for our distinguished regional network of ambulatory services. This 160,000 square foot expansion will continue to bring world-class academic medicine, cutting-edge technology, and innovative treatment options to the rapidly growing Doral community. UHealth at Doral will have services through the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center, Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, and the Desai Sethi Urology Institute, as well as specialties such as cardiology, endocrinology, otolaryngology, gastroenterology, dermatology, and more. The expansion will provide residents with innovative, specialized medical services in the heart of their community. Once complete, UHealth at Doral will have 8 operating rooms, 3 endoscopy procedure rooms, 33 cancer treatment bays, over 60 multidisciplinary exam rooms, and supporting ancillary services like imaging, lab, and respiratory therapy. UHealth at Doral will open in September, 2024. The Cardiac Ultrasound Technologist uses ultrasound equipment to view and take pictures of patients' hearts and circulatory system. The incumbent also schedules and performs exams, takes patient histories, and reports results to physicians for interpretation and diagnosis. Further, the Cardiac Ultrasound Technologist looks for abnormalities in blood flow sounds or heart rhythm, oxygen saturation, and the appearance of the heart. CORE JOB FUCNTIONS 1. Detects defects or irregularities using ultrasound equipment. 2. Positions patients and explains procedures. 3. Performs quality control functions. 4. Evaluates cardiac ultrasounds for diagnostic quality. 5. Prepares and sets up medical supplies using aseptic techniques. 6. Processes cardiac ultrasound studies and matches it with the appropriate paperwork for interpretation. 7. Assists in maintenance and compilation of statistical data. 8. Provides orientation to new cardiac ultrasound technologists. 9. Provides education and training to cardiac ultrasound technology students.10. Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets. Department Specific Functions + Responsible for performing all Echocardiography procedures at a level that will require no supervision of technical detail and assists other Sonographers. + Evaluates echocardiograms for diagnostic quality. + Completes all echocardiography procedures preliminary reports, processing, and completion of daily log and all processes needed to support echocardiography lab workflow. + Assist in collecting statistics and data needed for various functions in the echo lab. + Adheres to departmental policies and procedures, ensuring a safe and clean environment for patients and staff. + He/she will Keep track of Supplies part level. + Prepares and sets up medical supplies using aseptic techniques. + Assists with the maintenance and compilation of statistical data for lab accreditation process and work volumes. + Reports directly to Lead or Chief Cardiac ultrasound technologist, UMHC/SCCC Manger and Medical Directors. + Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets. + Reports on any issues with medical equipment to bio-med and contract service company. + Taking STAT on-call service as needed for STAT echocardiograms/cardiac procedures for UMHC/Sylvester in-patient facility. + Floating to different U-Health locations as Echocardiography service coverage is needed. CORE QUALIFICATIONS Education: Associate degree in relevant field.Graduate of a two-year AMA program approved by the committee of allied health education and accreditation. Certification and Licensing:Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer R.D.C.S. (AE) A.R.D.M.S. American Registry Diagnostic Medical Sonographer or Registered Cardiac Sonographer R.C.S. (Cardiovascular Credentialing International). Experience:Minimum 2 years of relevant experience, preferred.
