Child Care Specialist (Child Care Preschool Teacher)

PROGRAM SUMMARY

FRC provides clinically managed residential drug treatment and withdrawal management services for pregnant and parenting women and their children. Clients recovering from substance use disorders as well as co-occurring disorders receive services that include healthy family reunification, case management, substance use disorder treatment, individual and group counseling, parenting and career education, family therapy and supportive housing services. An onsite Child Development Center provides age-appropriate care to infants and children while in residence.


JOB SUMMARY

The Child Development Specialist provides child development services for children of women in residential day treatment during treatment hours and other hours as scheduled, including some holidays and evenings.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

Ensure the safety and supervision of a group of children six weeks to two years old, and or ages 2 years to 5 years old at all times.Provide positive behavior guidance that supports the developmental, social-emotional, and physical needs of all children.Record and monitor the daily activities of children in care of center. Create and deliver lesson plans, implement school curriculum, and assess developmental needs of students.Maintain a healthy and safe environment.Communicate positively with students, parents, children, and staff. Participate in training and supervision of mothers and volunteers in the CDC including providing supervision, guidance, and support to mothers of children in the program.Ensures that care provided is culturally sensitive and appropriate to needs of children and mothers in treatment.Facilitates smooth running of CDC program by being an appropriate role model.Drives program van as needed.Comply with all MHS and program rules, policies and procedures including HIPPA standards.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum of 12 core semester units in early childhood education/child development, including 3 units in Infant/Toddler. Minimum of 6 months of experience working in a licensed childcare center or comparable group childcare center.Qualifications for different age groups include infant toddler, and preschool may vary.Previous experience as an Early Childhood Education Teacher, in a licensed preschool setting.Experience with infants and toddlers with special needs, preferred.Experience with ethnically and culturally diverse children and families, preferred.Pediatric CPR and Pediatric First Aid certification required within 30 days of hire, unless specified otherwise on contract, and must be from one of the following certifying organization: American Red Cross or American Heart Association.Per program contact requirements, must satisfactorily complete a Tuberculosis test prior to hire and once annually thereafter. Ability to communicate clearly, both in writing and orally, with employees, management, and co-workersKnowledge of Microsoft Office and EHR softwareAbility to set priorities, problem solve, and react appropriately to emergency situationsAbility to work independently and effectively collaborate with a teamMust be adept at problem-solving, including being able to identify issues and solve problems in a timely mannerAbility to work some holidays and evenings as needed
