Child Life Specialist II
**Job Description/Summary:** The Child Life Specialist II, in a clinical training and leadership role, promotes optimum growth and development of pediatric patients and their families by creating a therapeutic environment which minimizes psychological trauma and promotes mastery of health care experiences. Additionally, the CLS II prepares patients for hospital experiences and provides support as appropriate. The CLS II supports the family system and facilitates positive coping. The CLS II works in collaboration with the health care team. **Position Requirements:** **Minimum Education:** Bachelor’s degree in Education, Child Life, Child Development or related field required. Must have completed at least 60 Professional Development Units (PDUs) of continuing education. **Minimum Experience:** Must have 5 years of full-time experience as a Child Life Specialist or equivalent role. **Certification Required:** Certified Child Life Specialist (CCLS) **Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:** + Ability and willingness to adapt to changing priorities and aggressive project deadlines. + Effective organizational and time management skills + Ability to maintain standards of performance under changing conditions + Knowledge of functional medical terminology + Knowledge of regulatory requirements including, The Joint Commission Standards, CMS, CDPH regulations, state and federal regulatory agency requirements standards and regulations as applied to Child Life Services. **Technical Knowledge:** + Basic computer skills in word processing and on line communication. + Prior experience with electronic medical records preferred. + Knowledge of MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. **Physical Requirements:** Sit: Up to 6 hours/day Stand/Walk: Up to 6 hours Bend/Stoop: Up to 3 hours Reach: Up to 6 hours Rep Use of UE/Grasp: Up to 6 hrs Lift/Push/Pull: 25 lbs, over 25# with assistance or equipment This job requires the ability to hear alarms clients and/or instruction.
