Westwood Professional Services, Inc. is seeking a Civil Project Manager to join our traffic engineering services team in Dallas, Texas.  Westwood has a highly experienced and dynamic team of individuals dedicated to providing high-level professional services to our clients. 

 

Our ideal candidate will have a minimum of five (5) years of diverse traffic engineering experience on projects including or closely-related to traffic impact analyses, traffic operational analysis, traffic signal design, and transportation planning for site development.  Candidates must have the ability to effectively manage multiple, individual projects and support personnel, and a willingness to perform a variety of technical and production tasks supporting various project types and project managers.  A Professional Engineer (PE) license in the State of Texas, or the ability to obtain within six months, is required.  Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE) certification is preferred.

Duties and Responsibilities

This role will function as a Project Manager of traffic engineering design and studies for multiple internal and external Clients under the supervision of a Department Lead. Job duties may include, but are not limited to:

Prepare or assist in preparing the detailed construction drawings for traffic control devices, including traffic signals, signs, pavement markings, and similar items using AutoCAD Civil 3DWork with a team in the preparation of traffic engineering studies including technical analyses and evaluations for projects of various size and complexityPrepare clear and concise technical reports, memoranda, and other written communication including all supporting analyses and documents (exhibits, etc.)Prepare or assist in preparing traffic control plans, traffic management plans, and similar itemsProduce high quality work and implement and maintain QA/QC proceduresOversee and complete the technical aspects of various traffic engineering projectsCoordinate with other disciplines, support services, and subconsultantsCoordinate with government agencies, utility providers or other outside agenciesCoordinate with Clients depending on project roleIdentify and interpret applicable codes, standards, or other design requirementsReview plans, technical specifications, and contract documentsUtilize specialized traffic engineering software to assist with analyses (e.g., Synchro, Vistro, Vissim, Trip Generation web app, etc.)Research and analyze traffic safety data including crash recordsPerform field observations related to traffic operations and safety for site development and design of traffic control devicesEffectively participate in public hearings, neighborhood meetings, and Client meetingsRepresent clients and firm in meetings with governmental agenciesPrepare, maintain, and coordinate schedules of multiple concurrent projectsEffectively plan and implement project schedules to ensure on-time and on-budget deliveryPrepare scopes, budgets, and proposals for traffic engineering projectsReview and approve monthly billings of projectsServe as administrative supervisor to one or more production staff Required Skills Outgoing, friendly, approachableExcellent verbal, written and interpersonal skillsStrong communication skills with the ability to effectively and prudently represent and interact with the organization leaders, team members, clients, public officials, and members of the public in a public hearing or similar environment Strong sense of urgency and self-initiative to establish and meet project deadlinesDetail-oriented with a collaborative, problem-solving mentality and effective application of engineering judgmentAbility to contribute to a positive work environmentAbility to work independently and as part of a teamAbility to manage multiple projects concurrently, including instructing and reviewing production staff, take initiative with prudent client and agency communication, establishing and fulfilling deliverable schedules, and ensuring quality of deliverablesDiligent organizational and documentational skillsProficient in Autodesk Civil3D, Synchro, HCS, VISSIM and Microsoft Office applicationsProficient in the use and application of national design standards (MUTCD, AASHTO, etc.)Competency in the design of traffic signals and other traffic control devicesCompetent in the design of roadway lightingCompetent in understanding, interpreting, and developing traffic signal operations, timing, and modellingProficient in applying ADA/PROWAG criteria in public infrastructure designAble to pro-actively suggest and communicate design solutionsAbility to delegate assignments and determine appropriate methods and proceduresAbility to develop constructive relationships with peers, clients, and public agenciesWillingness to integrate with group and company standard practices and proceduresAbility to view professional perspective of others Required Experience BS in Civil EngineeringLicensed Professional Civil Engineer (PE) in Texas (or capable of obtaining within 6 months)5+ years of progressive experience in traffic engineeringThis position requires travel to project sites and technical and/or professional organization functions, mostly within region, and may occasionally require travel to sites and other Westwood offices and/or corporate events throughout the United StatesMeans of personal transportation within region is required Preferred Experience Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE) certificationPrevious experience performing project management duties as described hereinPrevious experience developing constructive professional relationships with peers, clients, and public sector representativesExperience in and understanding of the administrative duties of project management including accounts receivable tracking, budget development and tracking, invoicing, marketing, business development, etc.Strong presentation skills paired with the ability to coach and motivate othersPrevious supervisory experienceMember of and active involvement in Institute of Transportation Engineers About Westwood Professional Services, Inc.
