CMM/Dimensional Inspector III- Multiple Position (A/B/C/D Shift)

This role is part of the Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance team. This team is focused on monitoring and assessing processes that guide Blue Origin’s design, manufacturing, and operations, ensuring system safety engineering, environmental health, and safety, product integrity, and continuous improvement processes. 

As part of a small, passionate and accomplished team of specialists, you will inspect development and flight vehicle components for various spaceflight systems. You will share in the team’s impact on all aspects of providing accurate data on tight tolerance high value components to determine configuration per engineering designs.

Responsibilities

As part of a small, passionate, and accomplished team of experts, you will inspect development and flight vehicle components for various spaceflight systems.

You will share in the team’s impact on all aspects of providing accurate data on tight tolerance high-value components to determine configuration per engineering designs.

This position will directly impact the history of space exploration and require your dedicated commitment and detailed attention toward safe and repeatable spaceflight.

Perform daily part inspection utilizing micrometers, gauge blocks, dial indicators, height gauges, optical comparators, profilometers, and coordinate measuring machines (CMMs).

Use Verisurf and Modus software suite for inspection equipment (Absolute Arm, Revo CMM and Leica Tracker).​

Oversees final product quality inspection in compliance with corporate/ customers' standards and requirements; identifies on-going quality issues, prevents potential production issues, and makes suggestions for improvement. ​

Performs inspection of purchased parts, materials, components, and equipment as materials are received from vendors or subcontractors. Determines or assists in determining methods, sequences, and procedures necessary for inspection. 

 Coordinates communication between key stakeholders on an irregular basis, calls meetings to address inspection issues.

Knowledge and utilization of nonconformance processes.

Qualifications:

A minimum of 4 years of experience in dimensional inspection.

Outstanding blueprint reading skills including GD&T per ASME Y14.5M-1994 or 2009 or 2018 standard.

Experience inspecting tight tolerance, high value components.

Strong computer software skills.

Proficiency in Microsoft Windows and Suite Programs.

Self-motivated with the ability to prioritize projects to meet completion dates.

Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion.

Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Relocation provided

Shifts available:

A Shift: Monday-Thursday, 6am-4:30pm

B Shift: Monday-Thursday, 4pm-2:30am

C Shift: Friday-Sunday 5am-5pm

D Shift Friday-Sunday 4pm-4am (Flexible)

Desired:

Experience using Revo CMM, Absolute Arm, Faro Arm, V-Stars, Laser Tracker, Roundest or similar very helpful

Basic machining knowledge.

Experience with ATOS Professional/GOM Inspect/Verisurf software.

Experience with 3D scanning/Bluelight/ATOS/AS1 Scanner or similar.

Experience in dimensional inspection of aerospace components preferred.

Aerospace quality inspection experience.

CAD software knowledge.

Experience operating heavy lifting equipment such as cranes and forklifts around flight critical hardware.

Compensation range for on site WA applicants is $33.11-$46.00
