CNC Machinist, 3rd Shift

Job Summary
 

The CNC Machinist/Setup role will perform set ups and operate various CNC mills, lathes and manual machines to support a production-paced environment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES 

Set-up CNC lathes, mills, manual machines and/or inspection equipment for production jobs in a responsive manner to support a production paced environment.Maintain, and update setup procedures for all critical processes.Work from blueprints, job routings and tooling instructions to hold close tolerances.Required to use computer skills to transfer programs to a variety of CNC machines.Inspect parts to print including both dimensional and visual requirements.Complete all required documentation for the job including part measurements and shop floor paperwork.Train and mentor less experienced machinists, especially on machine setup.Must be able to run more than one machine where cycle time permits.Performs other duties as required.

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Educations and/or Experience

High School diploma or GED is required.Must possess experience with CNC mill and lathe setup


SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES

Thorough knowledge of machine shop and tool room practicesUnderstanding of  machining properties of various metalsKnowledge of proper application and operation of CNC equipmentStrong math and problem-solving skills.Ability to change tools, adjust heights and tool compensationsAbility to read and interpret drawings and specificationsProficiency with hand measuring tools and inspection equipmentStrong interpersonal and teamwork skills

Computer Skills

Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)Computer skills to transfer programs to a variety of CNC machines.

Language Skills

English (reading, writing, verbal)

Mathematical Skills

Basic math skills (add, subtract, divide, multiply)

Other Skills

Must be able to work all shifts, including weekends and holiday hours.Ability to legally work without sponsorship for employment visa status.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (only provide if needed)

Experience with Brother, Haas, and Mazak controlsExperience writing or editing machine programs

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will have occasional bending, squatting, climbing, and twisting. There will be occasional usage of his/her hands to power grasp and manipulate objects, tools or controls, and occasional pushing, pulling and reaching above the shoulders. The position requires frequent walking and standing, as well as repetitive usage of hands for simple grasping, fine manipulation, and reaching below shoulder level. Additionally, this position requires the ability to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds and frequently lift up to 35 pounds with or without assistance. Required to wear PPE (ie. Face, foot, eye, hand, and/or hearing protection on plant floor).

WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will work in warehouse environment; and will be exposed to machine shop elements such as noise, dust, fumes, cold and heat on frequent basis. The ambient conditions are moderate, and the noise level in the work environment is moderate.
