Conde Nast Traveler, Commerce Director

Commerce Director, Conde Nast Traveler is a key role in the Commerce organization, reporting to the Portfolio 1 (Vogue, GQ, AD, Conde Nast Traveller and Allure) Commerce, VP. This individual is responsible for developing the editorial-led commerce strategy for travel bookings and retail. This role is critical in translating the inspirational point-of-view and guidance Conde Nast Traveler provides for their discerning audience, into a seamless commerce proposition. The role will lead a dedicated team of editors and producers, with an extensive cross-functional network including editorial, product, marketing and data analytics to deliver against revenue and profit objectives. 

Primary responsibilities include:

Develop a commerce proposition that establishes CNT as a booking destination in the minds of our audience, with a differentiated luxury positioning that adds value to the CNT brand overall

Contribute to the voice and visual identity of all CNT affiliate content, working closely with the editor

Collaborate with the CNT’s Global Editorial Director and Global Digital Director to seamlessly integrate with the site’s overarching destination strategy as well as key tentpoles 

Ensure all content and recommendations reflect brand voice and standards

Oversee the content distribution strategy, with a solid understanding across organic search, newsletter, social media, paid campaigns and events

Business owner for affiliate and partnership revenue for CNT bookings and retail commerce

Deliver growth targets through the implementation of a long-term strategic plans, as well as reacting to tactical opportunities and trade performance

Support the Portfolio 1 Commerce Director to proactively manage weekly trade discussions

Identify and deliver a sustainable commerce partnership strategy

Team leadership and career development of the content and production teams to develop a best-in-class multi-skilled commerce team that successfully blends creativity with business insights

Collaborate with the product team and other CN titles to develop the commerce platform, user experience and performance metrics

Profit management including revenue and personnel costs

Other duties as assigned

Key relationships will include:

SVP Commerce

Editors-in-Chief.

VP and GM of Continuity business.

Digital Directors.

Senior Manager Content Operations, Manager Merchandising, Manager Partnerships, Director of Special Projects.

Consumer Marketing Marketing Operations and Finance teams.

Audience Development and SEO.

Product Management and Data Management organizations.

Desired Skills and Qualifications:

Deep understanding of the travel industry, including editorial, brands and retail

7+ years experience in building an ecommerce or affiliate commerce business

Merchandising experience preferred

Proven vendor/partner relationship management with commercial viewpoint

Entrepreneurial mindset with experience in managing and coaching a small team

Comfortable with revenue forecasting and planning

Base Salary Range : $110k-$140k
