Position Description:

 

We are looking for a Component Library Engineer to join our team of designers of cutting-edge components for space and national security applications including Space Rated Cameras, Star Trackers and Laser Communications.

The ideal candidate is a technical expert who will support the design, the development, launch and sustainment of every product in our portfolio.

 

The EEE Parts Component Library Engineer oversees the overall health and effectiveness of the component library. This role focuses on ensuring the library meets the needs of designers and developers while aligning with business goals. This role is required to be hands-on and provide technical leadership in parts management process, parts creation and quality control. The person in this position will be responsible for supporting the development of high technology space programs. 

 

Tasks will include development of component requirements, parts selection, addressing obsolescence while working closely with design engineers, supply chain, quality, and reliability engineers. The person in this position needs to have proven experience in counterfeit parts management and obsolescence management with capability to guide teams upon these activities over a lean environment. Needs to drive part standardization by recommending re-use of parts in the database (when appropriate to do so), will work with component manufacturers and distributors to attain their product roadmaps. This person will be responsible for ECAD library maintenance and new parts introduction in ECAD library. This person will also review Product Change Notices (PCNs) and GIDEP (Government-Industry Data Exchange Program) alerts for their impact on components used, will advise concerned teams upon such alerts and will be responsible for Data Management and Part Number Management.

Responsibilities: 

Define the component library's scope and roadmapResearch and identify components that meet specifications, performance, and cost constraintsPossess technical expertise in reading schematics, drawings, and datasheetsInterface with manufacturers and suppliers to source componentsInspect alternative components to improve quality, reliability, and costManage all aspects of component selection, production, qualification, obsolescence, and documentationCreate and maintain component library databases, schematic symbols, and component land patternsDesign and create accurate footprints/Cells for various electronic components, considering factors like package type, pin spacing, and manufacturing tolerancesDevelop schematic symbols that accurately represent component behavior and pin connectionsOrganize and maintain component libraries for easy navigation and compatibilityReview and verify the accuracy of component libraries, identifying and correcting errorsCollaborate with PCB designers, engineers, and manufacturing teams to address component-related issuesGuide team members in selecting appropriate components based on engineering requirementsTrack usage and identify optimization opportunities

 

Requirements:

Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering field and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior related experience.Experience with component obsolescence tools and methodsExperience with end-of-life management, COTS, and counterfeit partsExperience in setting up of EDM and Parts Management practicesKnowledge of Quality Assurance and practices for Electronic Component Management Plan (ECMP)Solid understanding of configuration management, requirements traceability and related processesExperience with Altium layout toolPreferred knowledge of JEDEC, EIA and IPC standards as well as applicable military, NASA (EEE-INST-002), and ESA standards.Preferred knowledge of space design requirements, processes and its applications.Preferred knowledge of EEE parts qualification and screening requirementsExperience with, but not limited to, passive and active electronic components, processors, memories, connectors, wires and cables, metal finishes, tin whisker mitigation, lead-free control, etc. Able to work independently with minimum supervision, positive attitude and high ethicsAble to work collaboratively with cross-functional teamCapable of multi-tasking; working on multiple projects & supporting production activitiesStrong communication and documentation skillsGreat problem-solving skillsExperience with Microsoft office toolsExperience participating in PMPCB reviews, including preparation and presentation of approval requests for non-standard parts

Salary Range: $95,000.00 To $125,000.00 Annually
