THE OPPORTUNITY

As the Construction Manager - COE, you will function as a Construction subject matter expert for the Sr. Director of COE and the wider Center of Excellence team. You will have the opportunity to work and collaborate with peers and leadership across a diverse set of business verticals including COE Program Managers, COE Design Principal, regional Principal and Sr Design / Construction Managers, and key cross functional stake holders outside of Development including Ops Services, IT, Facilities, Accounting, Marketing, Indirect Procurement, and Food Safety. Your primary objective is to ensure new restaurant construction projects, remodel work, and strategic initiatives are consistently executed in a manner which upholds Chipotle’s brand identity, adheres to Chipotle’s current set of prototypical specifications and details, and aligns with the overall strategic goals of the Company and the overall Development Team.

 

This position is Remote eligible in the US. 

WHAT YOU’LL DO

Engage and coordinate with regional Principal / Sr Construction Managers to establish procedures and best practices to ensure new restaurants are constructed and delivered in accordance with Chipotle’s brand standards, current prototype design, and high expectations related to restaurant Turnover quality. Evaluate and assess opportunities for improved cost efficiencies, as they relate to construction trades, General Contractors, Sub-Contractors, and Chipotle Vendors. Collaborate with Principal and Sr Design and Construction Managers to establish best practices for implementing and executing prototypical details. Attend the Principal / Sr Design and Construction Round Table meetings to review and discuss feedback received from the field relating to proposed modifications to the prototype or design and construction standards. Become the construction subject matter expert of Service Channel. Work closely with the Facility Support team to establish best practices for utilizing SC and resolving SC work orders. Create metrics, standards, and reporting tools to help identify areas of opportunity to improve SC use and implementation. Collaborate with the Indirect Procurement and Ops Services Team to help review, vet, and evaluate new Vendors, specifications, equipment, and / or prototypical materials. Create instructional guides, playbooks, and communications to educate and train Construction Managers, General Contractors, Superintendents, and Sub-Contractors on the best means and methods of executing Chipotle’s construction standards and procedures. Collaborate with Chipotle COE Program Managers to educate and support program critical initiatives which require construction execution. This includes national roll-out type programs and stage gate pilot tests. Partner with Property and Facility Managers to identify existing restaurant conditions and integrate relevant construction practices which reduce long term maintenance and repair work. Support the Design and Construction yearly, quarterly, & monthly objectives, including maintaining relationships with architecture, construction, design, and operations consultants. Partner with Sr. Director of COE and other Development teams to ensure new concepts are appropriately translated into built environments utilizing the best construction means and methods established by the Development Center of Excellence team. Guide the team as a Construction SME in building-out, deploying and scaling all aspects of the in-restaurant guest experience.

 

WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE TABLE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required. Bachelor’s degree in construction management, design, architecture, or civil engineering or related field preferred. 8+ years of experience required for this role. 10+ years of progressive construction experience in Restaurant industry, including all types of projects, from ground-ups to remodels preferred. Proficiency in applicable construction industry tools (Excel, Word, Tririga, etc.). Ability to work independently and effectively communicate the best means and methods for executing construction activities for new restaurants and remodel projects. Ability to evaluate all project costs relative to construction. Must have advanced project management skills and the ability to articulate messages in a manner that can be widely accepted and understood. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Solid planning, collaboration, and decision-making skills. Ability to travel up to 50%.

PAY TRANSPARENCY

A reasonable estimate of the current base salary range for this position is $92,000 - $147,000. You are also eligible for annual cash bonuses and equity awards based upon performance and other factors. Actual compensation offered may vary depending on skill level, experience, and/or education.
