GENERAL OVERVIEW:

Prepare and/or assist in preparation and assembly of food to hospital patients and/or cafeteria patrons by performing the following duties:

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Reads patient tray ticket and cooks patient food according to FDA and SVHS guidelinesAssembles cooked and precooked/shelf stable items on patient tray according to order ticketGarnishes plates/food items as appropriate and according to patient guidelinesReplenishes cuisine on call stations according to pre-determined par levelsApportions and serves food according to cafeteria patron requestsMonitors and records hot and cold food temperatures and refrigerator temperatures twice per shift in accordance with the state and local departments of healthCollects and places garbage in designated trash containers and areasWashes hands according to policy before reporting to work, after a restroom visit, and/or after touching objects or self while engaging in food production, set up, or servingRotates food supplies according to expiration dates, and disposes those that are outdatedCleans and sanitizes work equipment, utensils, and work station with proportioned cleaning solutions before and after each useCleans and sanitizes dish ware and pots and pansRemoves heavy soil before washingUses proper detergent for specified itemsSanitizes dish ware and pot/pans by observation of final rinse temperature of above 180 degrees F or, by measuring safe PPM of sanitizer colorsVisually checks for soil on wares and repeats clean procedure is any amount is visibleStores all washed and sanitized items in a dry condition and proper locationOther duties as assigned by the food and nutrition supervisor, manager, or directorThis job has no supervisory responsibilities

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
