Coordinator, Timing Operations

The Coordinator, Timing Operations position is an opportunity for aspiring candidates to assist with the implementation and oversight of the Pitch Clock for Major League Baseball.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Work closely with the Timing Operations Manager to ensure optimal operation of the Pitch Clock during Major League games
• Communicate with umpires and Field Timing Coordinators (“FTC”) in-game, to ensure consistent and accurate operation of the Pitch Clock
• Work cross-functionally with the Umpiring, Replay Operations and On-Field Operations Departments on a consistent basis
• Assist in training sessions with FTCs, and other on-field personnel during the offseason and Spring Training
• Coordinate workload and workflow of seasonal Timing Operations staff on a nightly basis
• Assist the Timing Operations Manager in preparing nightly reports, weekly staff scheduling and other administrative tasks as needed
• Collaborate with departments across the Commissioner’s Office to provide support for day-to-day operations and relevant projects
• Assist in compiling daily and weekly feedback on FTC and Umpire performance as it relates to the operation and enforcement of the Pitch Clock
• Create Pitch Clock related presentations for the Winter Meetings, Annual Umpire Meetings and FTC training sessions


Requirements:
• Must be extremely detail oriented
• Must be able to work independently as well as in a team environment
• Must be able to communicate clearly, multitask, and prioritize responsibilities
• Must be able to handle live, fast-paced, and high-pressure situations
• Must demonstrate a high level of professionalism and neutrality at all times
including when working with and around MLB Umpires
• Strong knowledge of MLB rules, Pitch Clock Regulations and baseball specific language
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint Word and Outlook
• Previous experience working in Baseball


Schedule:
• Candidate must be able to work nights and weekends during the MLB season
• Occasional travel during the off-season is required

Per the NYC pay transparency law, the hiring range for this position is $55,000 - $65,000.
