Job Description

This is a hybrid position located in Knoxville, TN

The purpose of this job is to process payroll, ensure correct wage and hour compliance, maintain, and update payroll records and resolve payroll discrepancies.

Research submitted payroll and determine if adjustments are needed for 2k+ team membersReview and approve terminations and process final payments in accordance with state lawsEnsure accuracy of payments and deductions calculated by pay systemUpdate team member direct deposit accounts for ACH rejectionsChange Federal and State and tax forms as received to update employee electionsEnter labor reclasses, voids, and pull backsRun payroll reports in preparation for weekly payrollAddress issues and questions regarding payroll from employees and superiorsAnswer questions for human resources and financeEnsure all activities are in compliance with US lawsOversee distribution of payroll checksEnsure all documents are scanned into team member electronic fileModel behaviors that support the company’s common purpose; ensure guests and team members are supported at the highest levelComplete other duties as assigned

QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent certificate requiredAssociate’s degree or equivalent experience in accounting, finance or related field preferredMinimum three years’ experience in payroll or related area requiredIntermediate Microsoft Office skillsFederal and State wage law knowledge requiredCanadian provincial wage laws preferredINFOR/Lawson, ADP, and Workforce ManagementTeamwork, problem solving, and conflict management skillsExcellent analytical, critical thinking, and organizational skillsStrong attention to detailExcellent written and verbal communication skillsAbility to handle sensitive and confidential information ethically and responsiblyAbility to work with minimal supervisionAbility to set priorities, multitask, meet deadlines, and resolve problems with a high sense of urgencyGeneral office work requiring sitting or standing for long periods of time
