Reporting directly to the Camp Coordinator, the Counselor is responsible for the supervision of the children enrolled in the Kids Summer Adventure program.

This is a 5 week position, starting on July 1 and ending on August 2nd.

35 hours per week (Monday-Friday 8:00 a.m.-3:30 p.m.)

 

Responsibilities Supervise and lead activites/games during the program.Uphold program policies and rules.Ensure children are on time for all activities.Monitor children at all times.Report any health or emotion problems observed in children to Corps Officers.Attend any staff meetings.Other duties as assigned. Qualifications High school diploma/GED required with 2 years related experienceStrong interpersonal, communication and organizational skillsAbility to work independently and exercise initiativeAbility to take charge and motivate othersAbility to work with a wide variety of ages and demographic groupsAbility to observe camper behavior, enforce safety regulations and emergency procedures and respond appropriatelyMust have enthusiasm, sense of humor, patience and self controlCollege students/graduates with previous camp/childcare experience preferredValid NY State Driver License that meets The Salvation Army’s insurance requirementsProfessionally and ethically represent The Salvation Army and its mission to the staff, families, and community.
