Internal Medicine Veterinary Technician

Compensation - $22-$26/hr.

At VCA Animal Diagnostic Clinic-Dallas, we are looking for our next Internal Medicine veterinary technician. Our Internal Medicine department consists of 4 Internists and 6 Veterinary Technicians currently. With your knowledge, skills, and experience in veterinary medicine, you will have the opportunity to join our well balanced team.

A Veterinary Technician at Animal Diagnostic Clinic includes:

Work cohesively with hospital management and supervisory teams to aid in the progression of the hospitalAssist attending veterinarian with physical exams, routine procedures, tissue sample acquisition and processing, medication dispensing, surgical preparation and post-operative dischargeAnesthesia monitoring for scope procedures such as endoscopy, rhinoscopy, vaginoscopy and fluoroscopy, and CT scans; troubleshooting and maintenance of anesthesia machines and monitoring equipmentClient relations and appointment schedule management: initial consultation appointments, recheck appointments, surgical discharge, and daily client communicationHandling, administrating, and disposing of hazardous drugsCompassionate nursing care for all hospital patientsHousekeeping and maintenance of hospital areasPreliminary thorough technician physical examinationsMaintain detailed and legible medical recordsKnowledge and application of proper radiograph positioning and acquisition, including safety requirements and PPEAcquisition and processing of laboratory samples, including blood, urine, and tissue samplesFilling and dispensing medications under veterinarian’s supervision

Qualifications for Veterinary Technician:

High School DiplomaLicensed Veterinary Technician- CVT, LVT, RVT (preferred)2 + years of clinical experiencePassion for Veterinary MedicineExcellent communication skills, both written and verbalProfessional personal appearanceAbility to multitask, prioritize, and complete medical and administrative tasksRead and respond to all communication in a timely mannerMust be positive, motivated, dependable, and team oriented

Physical Requirements:

Any allergies to animals must be controllable through medication.Must be able to lift 40 pounds.Must be willing to work long or irregular hours under pressure conditions.This position requires the ability to walk, bend, stand, and reach constantly during a minimum 8-hour day.Visual acuity sufficient to maintain accurate records, recognize people and understand written directions.Ability to speak and hear sufficiently to understand, give information in person and over the telephone.Fine motor skills adequate for utilizing hospital equipment such as electric clippers, syringes, radiology equipment, laboratory equipment, computers, etc.
