OVERVIEW:

Provides leadership and guidance towards the identification and resolution of data quality issues that are impacting the bank.  Improves the data quality of the bank by guiding conversations between issue owners and key stakeholders to determine the appropriate remediation efforts and monitor for enterprise wide trends in data quality issues. Monitors adherence to enterprise data policies and standards and provides support to data teams on data quality and issue management. Works with data product and platform teams on data issue remediation. Monitor for trends in data issue themes in coordination with data stakeholders.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

Lead the team’s accomplishment of data management tasks and develop data management policy and proceduresCoordinate research into industry standards and pertinent government regulations to develop data management policies and proceduresFacilitate assessment conversations between key stakeholders to understand the impact of data quality issuesMaintain data issue register(s), draft issue remediation plans and monitor progress towards meeting remediation plansWork with data stakeholders to understand data quality issues and coordinate with necessary parties to drive towards resolution.Monitor assigned data teams for violations of data quality policies and procedures, document violations and coordinate remediationUnderstand and adhere to the Company’s risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls in accordance with the Company’s Risk Appetite.  Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.Promote an environment that supports diversity and reflects the M&T Bank brand.Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.Complete other related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 5 years related experience, or in lieu of a degree, a combined minimum of 9 years higher education and/ or work experience, including a minimum of 5 years related experienceExperience analyzing data and draw valid conclusionsIntermediate knowledge of data management concepts, terminology, roles, and responsibilitiesExperience completing data research using industry standard research methodsExperience developing and/or implementing data management and/or data governance policy and standards with limited oversight

IDEAL QUALIFICATIONS PREFERRED:

Experience with data management and query languages in big data environment or cloud environmentIntermediate familiarity with the data life cycleExperience in financial industry

 

M&T Bank is committed to fair, competitive, and market-informed pay for our employees. The pay range for this position is $97,869.52 - $163,115.87 Annual (USD). The successful candidate’s particular combination of knowledge, skills, and experience will inform their specific compensation.
