Summary

The Data Scientist is responsible for analyzing large amounts of raw information to find patterns that will help improve decision making in the organization.

 

This requires a highly analytical with a knack for analysis, math and statistics. Critical thinking and problem-solving skills are essential for interpreting data. We also want to see a passion for machine-learning and research.

 

Essential Functions

Identify valuable data sources and automate collection processesUndertake preprocessing of structured and unstructured dataAnalyze large amounts of information to discover trends and patternsBuild predictive models and machine-learning algorithmsCreation of new Power BI Dashboards and reportsCombine models through ensemble modelingPresent information using data visualization techniquesPropose solutions and strategies to business challengesCollaborate with engineering and product development teamsThe analyze and identify trends to allow the organization to make decisions based on the dataExperience in data miningUnderstanding of machine-learning and operations researchKnowledge of R, SQL and Python; familiarity with Scala, Java or C++ is an assetExperience using business intelligence tools (e.g. Tableau) and data frameworks (e.g. Hadoop)

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

 

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

 

Must be able to remain in a stationary position 75% of the time.Occasionally moves about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer.Expresses or exchanges ideas by means of the spoken word. Those activities in which they must convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers accurately, loudly or quickly.Frequently moves standard office equipment up to 25 pounds.Must be able to work indoor conditions 90% of the time.While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.

 

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Typical days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.  Evening and weekend hours required, as required by business need.

Experience

7-10yrs of proven experience as a Data Scientist or Data AnalystStrong Power BI skills

 

Education

Bachelor's degree in a technology discipline or related field or equivalent work experience directly within functional area 

Security Clearance

US Citizen with DHS clearance preferred; ability to obtain/maintain DHS clearance.
