The Database Administrator maintains database by identifying and resolving requirements and supports users. The incumbent assumes responsibility for the performance, integrity, and security of applicable database(s). An employee in this position also oversees the planning and development of databases and troubleshoots any issues on behalf of users.

Department Specific Functions

1. Setup, configure and maintain database servers; data extraction, test data management; data security and database backup and recovery for different environments (MS SQL, MySQL, Oracle).

2. Monitor database performance, detect bottlenecks and optimize queries, configurations, and indexes to ensure optimal performance and reliability of databases.

3. Setup and configure data integration using Cloud solutions to migrate data from different environments.

4. Works with Security Team on Vulnerability remediations through patching and upgrading to the latest version of the database servers.

5. Works closely with developers and business users on the requirements, systems analysis, design, and implementation of new systems in all environments.

6. Analyzes and determines information needs and elements, data relationships and attributes, data flow and storage requirements, and data output and reporting capabilities.

7. Researches and evaluates alternatives and recommends solutions for business issues.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in relevant field

Minimum 5 years of relevant experience. Any relevant education, certifications and/or work experience may be considered.

             

Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes:

Knowledge of database security methods and their applications.

Knowledge of Data Distribution Strategies. Distribute data effectively across servers or clusters to balance workloads and enhance performance.

Knowledge of Data Factory, Cloud data integration solutions and Power Automate.

Knowledge of using PowerShell and developing scripts.

Skills in Microsoft SQL administration, and experience with Always-On clusters.

Skills in Oracle database administration

Skills in MySQL database administration

Skills optimizing database performance by fine-tuning queries, indexing, and caching strategies.
