This Opportunity

WSP is currently initiating a search for a Design Build Inspector (Roadway) for our Atlanta Buford Highway office. Assignment will be four projects in Morgan, Newton and Walton County Georgia. This position will be involved in projects with our Earth & Environment Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client’s objectives and solves their challenges. 

Your Impact

This is a general level technical work position supporting higher level inspectors and engineers in functional areas of Roadway Construction inspection: materials sampling, inspection, and testing. Work usually involves a significant amount of decision making and use of judgement and may involve providing work direction to others.
Employee will perform independent moderately complex inspections of roadway and structure construction processes and materials to assure compliance with the construction contract. Work includes inspecting asphalt and concrete for acceptable materials and mix; pavement for proper spreading compaction, and depth; structural material and members. Work also includes inspections of traffic control and erosion control devices. Employee may perform contract administrative duties such as field measurement of pay items and other Client required documentation.

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

3+ years of experience High school Diploma or GED Demonstrated knowledge of materials, methods and equipment used in GDOT transportation construction. Considerable knowledge of mathematical functions, including algebra, geometry and trigonometry related to transportation engineering. Skill in use of computers and associated software. Ability to read, interpret and explain such documents as construction plans, contract provisions, specifications, and inspection procedures.   Ability to take notes and prepare or review reports. Good communication skills (written and oral) and ability to coordinate activities of lower level employees and instruct them concerning proper work and documentation.   Shall be licensed to operate vehicles in accordance with Georgia law and successfully complete and pass WSP’s Motor Vehicle screening. Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) Worksite Erosion Control Supervisor (WECS) GDOT Field Concrete Technician Certification Georgia Soil & Water Conservation Commission (GSWCC) Level 1A Certification
