DESIGN ENGINEER
Summary: As a Design Engineer, you will play a crucial role in our product development process. You will be responsible for creating robust and efficient designs, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and ensuring a seamless transition from design to manufacturing. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in design engineering related to industrial equipment, a passion for innovation, and a proven track record of successful product development. Primary Duties and Responsibilities: + Develop and optimize mechanical designs, ensuring they meet industry standards, regulations, and customer specifications. + Utilize SolidWorks to create 3D models, detailed drawings, and simulations for mechanical components. Demonstrate expertise in the software to drive efficient and effective design iterations. + Work closely with cross-functional teams, including mechanical engineers, suppliers, and quality assurance, to integrate mechanical designs seamlessly into the overall product development process. + Apply mechanical engineering best practices to develop designs optimized for performance, cost, design for manufacturability (DFM), and design for assembly (DFA). + Collaborate with the prototyping team to create and test prototypes, making necessary adjustments to designs based on testing results. + Generate comprehensive design documentation, including bills of materials (BOMs), part drawings, assembly drawings, and specifications facilitating an efficient manufacturing process. + Stay abreast of industry trends, technological advancements, and best practices. Implement improvements to existing designs and processes to enhance product performance and manufacturability. + Perform other related duties as assigned. Qualifications: + Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET accredited university. + 3–5 years of industry experience in mechanical design of mobile equipment or industrial machinery. + Proficient in SolidWorks, Inventor or CREO design software. + Familiarity with manufacturing processes such as machining, welding, and assembly. + Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills. + Effective communication and collaboration skills. + Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. + Industry experience in Finite Element Analysis (FEA) using SolidWorks Simulation or similar software package is desired. + Experience with 3D line routing and electrical harness design; proficiency in SolidWorks Routing – Electrical and Routing – Piping and Tubing is desired. + Must be able to read and understand various service manuals, electrical diagrams, and troubleshooting guides. + Must be able to read and understand the Thompson Pump & Manufacturing Co., Inc.
