DESIGN ENGINEER
Summary: As a Design Engineer specializing in structural design, you will play a crucial role in our product development process. You will be responsible for creating robust and efficient designs, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and ensuring the seamless transition from design to manufacturing. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in structural engineering related to industrial equipment, a passion for innovation, and a proven track record of successful product development. Primary Duties and Responsibilities: + Develop and optimize structural designs for manufacturing processes, ensuring they meet industry standards, regulations, and customer specifications. + Utilize SolidWorks to create 3D models, detailed drawings, and simulations for structural components. Demonstrate expertise in the software to drive efficient and effective design iterations. + Work closely with cross-functional teams, including mechanical engineers, manufacturing experts, and quality assurance, to integrate structural designs seamlessly into the overall product development process. + Identify and specify appropriate materials for structural components, considering factors such as strength, durability, and cost-effectiveness. + Collaborate with the prototyping team to create and test prototypes, making necessary adjustments to designs based on testing results. + Generate comprehensive design documentation, including bills of materials (BOMs), assembly instructions, and specifications, to facilitate the manufacturing process. + Stay abreast of industry trends, technological advancements, and best practices. Implement improvements to existing designs and processes to enhance product performance and manufacturability. + Perform other related duties as assigned. Qualifications: + Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related field. + Proven experience as a Manufacturing Design Engineer with a focus on structural design. + Proficiency in SolidWorks and other relevant design software. Strong understanding of structural analysis and finite element analysis (FEA). + Familiarity with manufacturing processes such as machining, welding, and assembly. + Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills. + Effective communication and collaboration skills. + Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. + Any relevant certifications in SolidWorks or engineering would be a plus. + Ability to read and comprehend complex instructions, detailed correspondence and memos. + Ability to write detailed correspondence. + Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, vendors and other employees of the organization. + Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. + Ability to calculate and interpret financial measures such as percentages, margins, ratios and other comparative statistics. + Must be able to interpret graphs and other visual representations used to present data. + Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. + Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. + Must be able to read and understand various service manuals, electrical diagrams, and troubleshooting guides. + Must be able to read and understand the Thompson Pump & Manufacturing Co., Inc.
