As a Textile Designer, you will work closely with the Senior Designer and VP of Textiles to execute the design and development of products across multiple textile categories for the West Elm Kids brand. Reporting into the Senior Designer, this is a unique opportunity to provide an innovative point of view on textiles for the West Elm Kids brand.

Responsibilities:

Translate seasonal concept direction into cohesive and innovative collections Consistently research industry trends to feed design inspiration and new collection development Create and maintain digital concept and presentation boards Manage all technical specifications and communication with vendors including making comments on samples, and sending product approvals in PLM Create and maintain visual line list and presentation in deck and board format  Produce vendor ready artwork in print and digital format for external and external partners Manage development samples both physically and digitally  Work proactively according to development calendar to stay ahead of timelines Understanding of fabric qualities and constructions, techniques, and how they affect price points, look, and end use Design and develop product from original artwork, develop new fabrications, and core color additions within carryover collections

Criteria:
 

MUST provide Portfolio link (including password) on resume - or link to PDF work samples with application Bachelor’s Degree in Textile Design or related field  Minimum 4-6 years of design work experience, preferably in-home furnishings, or textiles Must be expert level in Adobe Creative Suite Thorough knowledge of textiles, fabrications, printing and manufacturing techniques Elevated taste level with a passion for textiles, color, and decorating kids spaces Ability for strategic thinking and understanding of white space in kids marketplace Ability to work independently as well as with a team in a fast-paced environment  Ability to prioritize, multi-task and adapt to change  Extremely organized, efficient and detail-oriented – excellent calendar adherence and ownership  Excellent time management and communication skills  Excellent cross functional skills and partnership with merchandisers and product development team Understanding and enthusiasm for the West Elm Kids brand  This role requires being onsite in the New York office

The expected starting pay range for this position is $70,000 - $90,000. Applicable pay ranges may differ across markets. Actual pay will be determined based on experience and other job-related factors permitted by law. In addition to competitive pay, compensation may include a variety of other components like benefits, paid time off, merit, and bonus opportunities.
