The purpose of the Transportation Mechanic III is to provide maintenance and repair of diesel-powered vehicles for RKT fleet ensuring compliance with DOT regulations.

Ensures equipment availability for use by completing preventative maintenance schedules, installing component and part upgradesComplete dry service on equipment to include lubrication of components, fluid checks and inspection of all hoses and beltsComplete wet service on equipment to include refilling fluids (engine oil, coolant, brake fluid, windshield fluid, etc)Diagnosis electrical malfunctions for the purpose of determining needed repairs and/or replacementsInspect, service and replace trailer parts, including tire checksMaintain hub and axles and adjusting or replace when requiredService and repair the brake, electrical and hydraulic systemRepairs and/or replaces starters, alternators, and air pumpsRepairs and/or replaces water pumps and T-StatsRun and analyze diagnostic test on diesel engines and interpreting the results to offer suitable solutions Replace vehicle engines, steering mechanisms, transmission, differential and braking systemsEnsure that equipment meets the U.S. Department of Transportation road safety requirementsCompile inspection reports, documenting repairs and reporting all findings to managementHave a sound understanding of repair tools, equipment, and testing machineryMaintains tools, equipment and/or shop area for the purpose of ensuring the availability of tools and equipment, and safety within the workspace May be required to cross train and perform other duties.
