About this position

The registered dietitian establishes and maintains effective multidisciplinary relationships with the healthcare team to provide customer care that is integrated and compatible with the customer-focused medical/nutritional goals and objectives across a diversified area of practice, including community and outpatient services. Practices within a population of varying customer acuity levels. Primary responsibilities include application of the Nutrition Care Process (NCP), including completion of the nutrition assessment/Nutrition Focused Physical Assessment (NFPA), determination of the nutrition diagnosis, developing and implementing nutrition interventions(s), and monitoring and evaluating of the customer's progress.
Responsibility for planning and implementing activities related to customer nutrition care based on standards established by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, regulatory agencies, and North Memorial. The position is an integral part of the multidisciplinary team, is involved in team conferences, provides food and nutrition-related in-services, and contributes to the development and revision of hospital policies.
Performs business and supervisory functions, such as management of resources in a cost-effective manner, and participates in compliance and quality performance improvement efforts to ensure that nutrition care is safe and effective. The position may be involved in community-based nutrition programs and maintaining professional competency and skills required for professional practice.
Works as a multidisciplinary team member in order to attain goals of the department and mission of North Memorial.

 

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in dietetics, foods and nutrition, or related area, granted by a U.S. regionally accredited college or university. Completion of a didactic program in dietetics and supervised practice program approved by the Commission on Accreditation for Dietetics Education (CADE) of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.   

Experience

• One year experience with emphasis on clinical nutrition and responsibilities in an institutional setting preferred.
• Four years' experience with one year emphasis on Nutrition Support/Critical Care Dietitian preferred while maintaining certification. • Read, speak, and write English.
• Ability to work with a variety of customers, team members and peers.
• Effectively and efficiently utilize computer technology.  

Licensure/Certification

• Registered Dietitian Nutritionist or eligible for registration by the Commission on Dietetic Registration of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. If registration-eligible, must pass the dietetic registration exam within 3 months of hire. - NMHC Standard

• Licensed Dietitian (State of Minnesota)
