Objective Manage the faculty, staff, labs and classrooms for the Construction Trades and Welding Technology Programs. Provide development and support for Blinn College District applied technology programs. Provides management of NCCER accreditation for ALL NCCER-instruction. Manages dual credit instructor support. Provide continuous program development. Serves as leadership role for all Applied Technology Programs. Essential Duties 1. Provides for student and instructor recruitment and retention. Supports goal of implementing AAS Welding, AAS Trades and Applied Technology, Dual Credit, and Non-Credit within service-area. Speaks with prospective students and advises of career and education programming options. Actively seeks donations of metal, tools, supplies, equipment. Coordinates all Advisory Committee activities, meetings, and membership. Serves as faculty as needed. Delivers one credit or non-credit courses for construction trades not to exceed 96 contact hours per 16-week semester and 64 contact hours per 10-week semester.
2. Oversees operation and use of welding labs, machining lab, and classrooms for the district. At RELLIS Agriculture and Workforce Complex and the A.W. Hodde Jr. Technical Center, provide support for HVAC and Electrical classroom and lab space when possible. Coordinate facility use with Welding, Trades and Applied Technology Programs, and CDL programs. Maintain required security and safety procedures to industry standards for all lab areas for the district. Serves as on-site resource to answer instructor questions and meet instructional needs. Prepares labs for applied technology classes, by ensuring tools and equipment are available and in safe and correct operating condition for all applied technology courses district wide. Schedules equipment maintenance and repairs. Order consumables and supplies; receives deliveries and processes receipts. Conduct instructor evaluations with classroom and lab activity observations weekly. Reviews and adheres to budget needs for applied technology programs (credit and noncredit).
3. Provides instructional and institutional support to dual credit instructors district-wide. Visits dual credit welding instructors on-site. Trains new instructors in processes and procedures. Provide curriculum development, revisions, and support for all welding courses. Schedules OSHA, CORE, PEC, and other required training for dual credit instructors. Develop welding and other skill programs with Sealy, Schulenburg, and Brenham.
4. Manages program evaluations, strategic planning assessments, faculty assessments, student complaints, and other programmatic tools used to evaluate program success.
5. Provides documentation and tracking for NCCER for policy and procedural compliance, course completions, and proper use of training materials. Conduct “Instructor Certification Training Program” (ICTP) NCCER training for instructors and staff. Responds to NCCER audits.
6. Prepares program submissions, syllabi, course descriptions, and other course-related documents as required by SACSCOC, THECB, and/or College policies and regulations.
7. Other duties as required by the Dean of Applied Technology, Workforce, and Economic Development. Minimum Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Associates degree in related area. 5+ years’ work experience in related field (not instructional) 3+ years’ working in a lab environment Possess NCCER instructor qualification currently or within 30 days of hire. Possess OSHA-10 Hour card or complete within 30 days of hire. Experience maintaining an inventory of consumables, tools, and equipment Experience ordering consumable supplies for welding or other technical programs Advocate for career and technical education and its students; supporter of lifelong learning. Preferred Experience and Training Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in related field 3+ years’ of higher education instruction Experience using D2L for grades and attendance




Physical Requirements 1. Must be able to lift 45-70 lbs.
2. Must be able to repeatedly bend.
3. Must be able to crawl, twist, kneel, push, stoop, operate office equipment, write and count.
4. Must be able to operate motor vehicles safely and operate mechanical equipment.
5. Must be able to climb laddders. Required Degree, License or Certifications 1. Must have an Associate’s degree or higher.
2. Must be able to obtain NCCER Master Trainer Certification and OSHA 10 within 6 months of employment. Special Notes To Applicants This is a 12 month, benefits-eligible position. Blinn College pays 100% of health insurance for full-time employees, 50% for dependents, and two times your annual salary in life insurance benefits. Yearly leave time includes:
