WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

We are looking for a Director, Financial Governance and Control (“FG+C”) to join our Greater China FG+C team in Shanghai, at NIKE Greater China Headquarters. The candidate is expected to bring his/her extensive experience and passion for internal control over financial reporting (“ICFR”) in helping Nike identify and manage financial reporting risk in the pursuit of complying with Sarbanes-Oxley (“SOX”) requirements and the transformation/optimization of process and control environment for our stakeholders across the board.

In this sense, a demonstrated track record of strong ICFR expertise, building consensus, managing complex stakeholder landscapes, and an ability to create positive and collaborative energy will be required for building and maintaining trust with our stakeholders, as we execute our ICFR strategy. 

WHAT WILL YOU WORK ON?

You will partner with stakeholders across our business functions (Tech, Legal, Procurement, and related Global teams)to identify SOX risks and controls in processes, tackle problems, assess the impact of issues, and identify ways to innovate, optimize, and automate how our business works today.

Knowing that we win as a team, you’ll also be a primary player in the day-to-day operations of Nike’s ICFR governance, including liaising with Nike’s SOX testing team, external auditors, control stakeholders to ensure they have the tools and knowledge to operate effectively in their roles.

As part of this role, your responsibilities will also include the following key activities:

Managing Greater China’s ICFR program and ensuring consistency in applicationCollaborating with local and Global stakeholders over the ICFR scoping and risk assessment processMaintaining an in-depth understanding of the inter-dependencies between business processes, technology systems and applications including automation, interfaces, key reports, and systems scopingBusiness partnership and support on core initiatives, programs and projects from risk and control perspectiveEvaluate new processes or changes to existing processes impacted by systems and various projects in order to ensure they adequately address relevant SOX risks, understand the end-to-end process, and ensure all relevant business and technology risks are addressed or mitigatedLead and coordinate with the business to evaluate the impact and magnitude of identified control deficiencies, if anyProviding actionable guidance and consultation on remediation action plans to ensure timely and effective remediation of identified control deficienciesProvide support on global audit projects on a needed basis and advance remediation excellence through partnership with action owners and global risk management teamLeading evaluation of new business processes to determine the impact on ICFR prior to implementation within the business and technologyHelping to develop, coach, and evaluate GC FG+C team members on an ongoing basis, serving as a champion of promoting real-time feedback Maintaining appropriate industry expertise and technical knowledge

WHO WILL YOU WORK WITH?

This role will report to the Senior Director, GC Controller. You will work with members of the Controlling, Finance, and Technology organizations, as well as with external auditors, internal auditors and IT compliance teams to support the execution of our ICFR transformation.

WHAT YOU BRING TO NIKE

The ideal candidate should have 12+ of business experience, including a blend of internal and external auditing and direct relevant experience in a combination of one or more of the following areas:

In-depth understanding of SOX internal control concepts and experience in applying them to plan, perform, manage, and report on the evaluation of ICFR in a large multi-national public company.Understanding of internal auditing standards, PCAOB standards, COSO Internal Control Framework, and risk assessment practices.Exhibit the skills needed to obtain management support for constructive change.Demonstrate strong leadership skills in terms of coaching and developing teamEquip with sufficient knowledge in accounting operations including revenue, inventory, COGS, expenditures and reporting etc. Demonstrate experience with project and/or transition management.Strong verbal and written communication skills necessary to present to peers and management. Ability to work collaboratively with many different teams across the organization.Ability to work independently, with limited required direction and guidance, and provide appropriate guidance to team members.Experience in performing multiple projects and working with varying team members.Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Information Systems (Master’s Degree preferred).CPA, CIA, or CISA certification preferred.
