JOB SUMMARY
At Houston Methodist, the Director of Information Technology (IT) Clinical Systems position is responsible for the overall management of assigned clinical application portfolio which includes both Epic applications and non Epic solutions for inpatient and ancillary areas. The primary areas of focus for this role are imaging systems including Radiology and Mammography, Radiation Oncology, Cardiology, and Operating Room/ Anesthesia. Works closely with clinical and physician leadership and clinical staff in determining how technology might assist in addressing needs and supporting the organization’s key business objectives. Translates organizational needs into system requirements, design specifications and solution roadmaps. Serves as project owner for major clinical systems initiatives. Serves as a resource in evaluating policy and strategy for information technology.
The Director position responsibilities include overseeing the activities of the department staff, ensuring quality, productivity, functional excellence and efficiency to accomplish strategic and operational objectives. In addition, this position is accountable for employee engagement, adequate staffing levels, budget development and compliance, staffing decisions such as hiring and terminating employment, coaching and counseling employees on work related performance, and developing and implementing policies and procedures to ensure a safe and effective work environment. This position also ensures training, monitoring and operations initiatives are implemented which secure compliance with ethical and legal business practices and accreditation/regulatory/government regulations.
