DIRECTOR / EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF BIOANALYTICAL SCIENCES

 

SUMMARY: 

We are seeking an accomplished professional to lead our Bioanalytical Sciences group as the Director within the Pharmacokinetics and Clinical Pharmacology department. This pivotal role involves overseeing a multidisciplinary team responsible for sample analysis of drug concentration and immunogenicity using LC/MS and/or ligand binding assays for antisense oligonucleotides, siRNA, or other RNA-based therapeutics, collaborating with external partners and contractors, and participating in cross-functional teams.  It also involves supervising and managing an accomplished team of scientists that are managing outsourcing activities, troubleshooting assays, and developing innovative assays for the analysis of existing and emerging RNA-based therapeutic modalities.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Leadership and Team Management: Provide strategic direction and leadership to an experienced team of bench analysts, scientists collaborating with partners and contractors, and cross-functional team members. Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and excellence within the Bioanalytical Sciences group. Mentor and develop team members, supporting their professional growth and skill development. Laboratory Oversight: Oversee all aspects of bioanalytical laboratory operations, ensuring adherence to quality standards, regulatory requirements, and timelines. Provide guidance and resources for the execution of LC/MS and ligand binding assays for sample analysis, ensuring accuracy, precision, and reliability of results. Collaboration with Internal and External Partners and Contractors: Coordinate scientific activities, data exchange, and project management with internal and external stakeholders to ensure successful outcomes. Establish and maintain productive relationships with external partners, contractors, and collaborators involved in bioanalytical research and development. Cross-Functional Team Participation: Act as a key member of cross-functional teams, representing the Bioanalytical Sciences activities in strategic planning, decision-making, and project execution. Collaborate with colleagues from different departments, including Research, Pharmacokinetics and Clinical Pharmacology, Biomarkers, and Clinical Development, to advance program objectives. Outsourcing Management: Manage, or direct the management of, bioanalytical sample analysis outsourcing activities, including vendor selection, contract negotiation, and oversight of deliverables. Monitor vendor performance and ensure adherence to project timelines, quality standards, and budgetary constraints. Assay Development and Troubleshooting: Drive the development of new assays tailored for the analysis of novel RNA-based therapeutic modalities, leveraging cutting-edge technologies and scientific insights. Lead troubleshooting efforts for bioanalytical assays, identifying and resolving technical challenges to maintain assay robustness and reliability.

REQUIREMENTS:

Ph.D. in a relevant scientific discipline with at least 10 years of experience in bioanalytical sciences, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Proven track record of leadership in managing bioanalytical and/or multidisciplinary teams and fostering a collaborative work environment. Extensive expertise in LC/MS and ligand binding assays, with hands-on experience in assay development, validation, and troubleshooting. Expertise in bioanalytical assays used for quantification of antisense oligonucleotides, siRNA, or other RNA-based therapeutics (recommended) Strong project management skills with the ability to coordinate activities across multiple functions and external partners. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills, with the ability to effectively engage with internal and external stakeholders. Knowledge of regulatory requirements and guidelines governing bioanalytical assays in pharmaceutical development (e.g., GLP, GCP).

The pay scale for this position is $194,150 to $296,101
