Position Description
The Director is responsible for ensuring the health, safety, and quality of education for all children within the preschool. The Director is accountable for overall educational and operational management of the Preschool in accordance with the mission of Belmont University and state requirements and guidelines. The Director will create and execute operating procedures that integrate developmental curriculum, staff and facilities management, legal and budgetary considerations, and Belmont University’s Aspirational Aim. The Director ensures that the physical, developmental, educational, spiritual, and social-emotional needs of the students and the goals of the center are met appropriately. The Director creates and sustains a culture of care for children and families, and an integrated strategy for whole child development and faith formation.
This position reports to the Dean of the College of Education.
Establish a strategic direction and quality assurance plan in accordance with the vision of the preschool and the mission of Belmont University. Manage adherence to quality standards with state and local requirements. Maintain quality effectiveness measurements.Develop and implement educational curriculum that is developmentally appropriate and reflective of the goals of the Preschool program.Collaborate with staff to develop positive learning activities aligned to curriculum and goals.Ensure adherence to all federal, state, and local statutes, regulations, and requirements.Create and sustain a culture of care for children and families in alignment with Belmont University’s mission, vision, and Aspirational Aim.Integrate whole child development and faith formation into all aspects of the education and operation of the preschool.Develop all operating policies and processes including but not limited to illness and emergency procedures and maintenance of student records, ensuring staff is trained appropriately.Create and maintain Parent and Staff handbooks that delineate and communicate child care policies, procedures, expectations, and requirements. Maintain communications with parents of current and prospective students through direct conversation, newsletters and parent handbook; implement community outreach activities to maintain and promote positive community relationships.Maintain positive relationships with regulatory agencies; ensure legal and financial compliance.Oversee all office functions including budget planning and review, payroll, accounts payable and receivable, tuition billing and payment, staff supervision and purchasing.Maintain personal professional development plan to ensure continuous quality improvement.
