This Opportunity

WSP is currently initiating a search for an Early Career Environmental Engineer for our Buffalo, NY office.  Be involved in projects with our Earth and Environment Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client’s objectives and solves their challenges. 

Your Impact Under general supervision, collect and compile environmental data from samples of air, soil, water, sludge, and other matrices for engineering analysis. Maintain quality control standards and procedures for accurate and precise measurements. Assist with performing basic professional environmental engineering work relating to air emission sources, hazardous or solid waste facilities, water supply facilities, industrial and agricultural facilities, pollution sources, existing site conditions, water resource, and underground storage tanks. Assist with verifying the characteristics of a site, providing entry-level technical assistance on various environmental issues. Generate complete, accurate, and concise documentation using electronic systems and field/work site notebook. Comply with safety guidelines and site-specific procedures which include but are not limited to, the maintenance of sample collection, location data, statistical documentation, and logbooks. Complete training on assigned tasks. Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures. Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental, Civil, or related discipline. 0 to 1 years of relevant post education experience. Prior internship experience, leadership experience, or relevant coursework. Experience with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Strong technical writing, analytical and communication skills. Detail-oriented with an emphasis on quality work products. The selected candidate must have the ability to work in the United States immediately. Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.

Preferred Qualifications:

Recent graduate or May 2024 Graduate in an accredited Environmental or Civil Engineering, or related, Undergraduate or Graduate program. The successful candidate will have 0-3 years of internship experience in Environmental or Civil Engineering. Must successfully complete and pass WSP’s Motor Vehicle screening.  This role is subject to a client-mandated drug/alcohol testing policy. As such, employee may be subject to random drug/alcohol tests. A copy of this policy will be provided during employee onboarding and is available upon applicant request.  Relocation assistance is not available for this position.
