Job Summary
Coherent is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to the join the Facilities team at our semiconductor manufacturing site located in Sherman, Texas. As the primary owner of all electrical utilities on-site, you will be expected to participate in system design reviews, capital budget projects, maintenance, process documentation, and operation of all electrical utilities, including high voltage switch gear and sub-station. The Facilities team is responsible for operation of all utility systems including electrical, chilled water, process vacuum, wastewater treatment, HVAC, chemicals, gases, and controls. As the Facilities Electrical Engineer, you will be expected to support the team’s efforts across all systems. Additional duties include coordinating with electric service providers to drive projects or resolve issues, and working closely with facilities operators, trades, and contractors.
Perform necessary tasks to maintain regulatory requirements of federal, state, and local codes.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
Oversee operation and maintenance of all electrical systems Ensure compliance with all safety standards Maintain regulatory requirements of federal, state, and local codes Prevent interruptions and subsequent impacts to operations Urgent response to system recovery or troubleshooting Assist Facilities team with electrical support for all systems Manage all project phases from concept development to contractor execution Modification of existing electrical systems to meet new equipment needs and demands Work in tandem with internal and external project stakeholders Maintain working relationship with electric service provider Provide support for tool installation in cleanrooms
EdEExperience
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering 4+ Years’ experience in industrial environment 1+ years’ experience with high voltage systems Construction or project management experience preferred Ability to interpret, create, or revise electrical schematics Ability to specify wiring, transformers, breakers, relays, and conduit for new or existing projects Experience with applicable NFPA, ASHRAE, IECC, and IEEE codes and standards Knowledge of arc flash testing requirements Knowledge of UPS Systems, generators, auto-transfer switches, and switching gear Knowledge of preventative maintenance for electrical systems Experience managing contractors Experience with LOTO and energized work permits Ability to communicate effectively with a variety of teams, trades, and contractors Ability to utilize Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, and AutoCAD Understanding of means and methods required to perform work without impacting ongoing operationsBSkiSkills and Qualifications
Experience in semiconductor or similar critical environments Professional Engineering License with the State of Texas Experience using project management documentation tools Project Management Professional Certification Experience with Switchyard operation and maintenance Experience with high voltage switchgear operation and maintenance Experience with Flywheel UPS specification and operation Experience with typical rotating equipment, including three phase motors Controls Engineering and SCADA system experience Cleanroom experiencePhysRequirements
Stand for up to 10 hours at a time Lift 50 pounds or push/pull up to 150 pounds Working with high voltage electrical equipment
