We’re looking for an enthusiastic Classroom Therapist who's dedicated to providing outstanding mental health, case management, and consultation services to grades K-5 students at our Oakland-based nonpublic school, Maya Angelou Academy (MAA). As a Classroom Therapist, you’ll collaborate with MAA’s knowledgeable school staff to oversee therapeutic and case management services, conduct mental health assessments, as well as create and implement individual behavioral plans. Our Classroom Therapists continually grow in expertise around clinical issues in the classroom and find evidence-based and creative ways to foster a therapeutic milieu that solves these challenges.

Responsibilities Conduct therapeutic sessions with students and families using evidence-based modalitiesProvide comprehensive case management and social services to support academic and personal developmentCreate and monitor individualized behavioral goals, adjusting them as needed for positive changesOversee classroom behavioral interventions, collaborating with educators for an optimal learning environmentMonitor and communicate regarding psychotropic medications for student well-beingDevelop and maintain meaningful therapy contacts with students and familiesOffer expert consultation to the education team, integrating therapeutic principles for student successProvide crisis intervention for students, using de-escalation techniques to resolve conflicts; this may include physical management of clients and implementation of Seneca's Equilibrium Training Qualifications Master's degree in social work, marriage and family therapy, professional clinical counseling, or psychologyEligible to register with the California BBSExperience working with youth in a mental health or education setting is strongly preferredTB test clearance, fingerprinting clearance, and any other state/federal licensing or certification requirementsValid driver's licenseAbility to work collaboratively as a team member and contribute to the growth and development of an engaged program cultureTB test clearance, fingerprints, and COVID-19 vaccination Schedule School based schedule:Monday to Friday: 8 AM- 4 PM5 weeks of paid time off, 11 paid holidays, and 14 paid school break days Benefits Now hiring for the upcoming academic year!Starting at $67,374-$81,374As of July 7th, this starting range will increase to $71,080-$85,080Actual salary dependent on creditable experience above the minimum qualifications for the role$4000 salary increase upon licensureSalary increase upon passing a bilingual language proficiency exam may be available $2000 sign-on bonus for new Seneca employees! Salary increases each year Comprehensive employee benefits package, including: Full dental, vision, chiropractic, acupuncture, and fertility coverage Family leave, long-term disability, and life insurance Partially paid premiums for dependants 403b retirement planEmployer-Paid Assistance Plan (EAP)5 weeks of flexible paid time off, 11 paid holidays, and additional paid school break days Seneca supports clinicians toward licensure and beyond: Individual and group supervision, regular clinical case conferences, and licensure and renewal courses led by field expertsExpenses such as outside training or licensure fees can be mitigated through a clinical training stipend
