JOB PURPOSE

The Financial Analyst is the key finance support for the finance team. This is a challenging and rewarding role which requires strong business acumen, excellent communication skills, and a roll-up-your-sleeves attitude. 

 

JOB SUMMARY

The primary responsibilities of this role include a variety of finance tasks for our Workforce and Economic Development practice area companies. These tasks include, and not limited to preparation of the annual budget, and the following monthly actual vs. budget variance analyses, developing budgets for individual contracts, as well as tracking the financial performance of all contracts of the select companies. This role relies on exceptional communication skills with internal and external stakeholders, ability to work independently with set goals, and being organized with multiple tasks to prioritize.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

 

1.

Support in the preparation of budgets, budget templates, reports, variance analysis

2.

Support in the development processes for budget preparation and reporting

3.

Analyze proposed subsidiary budgets

4.

Government contracts financial reporting

5.

Be fluent in Microsoft applications (specifically Word and Excel)

6.

Prepare reports such as P&L reports by product, Monthly Flash reports

7.

Prepare actual vs plan/reforecast and prior year variance analysis

8.

Improve reporting proficiency and seek ways to reduce cycle time

9.

Compile monthly financial reports after the financial close   10. Produce quarterly board decks   11. Year-end projections   12. Provide insights and find irregularities the financial data   13. Support the accounting team with analysis of preliminary financials   14. External reporting for various stakeholders   15. Perform other related duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

Job qualifications are stated in the Essential Functions of the job description. An employee must be able to accomplish the Essential Functions to be competent in the job. Other special requirements are noted below.

Education Bachelor’s (BA or BS) in Finance or related field Job Experience 3+ or more years of experience  Strong knowledge of financial analytics, budgeting and reporting.  Background in accounting and finance.  Ability to meet tight deadlines and work additional hours during peak sessions.  Ability to make suggestions to management based on analysis.  Ability to work independently or an equivalent combination of related education and experience.

Equipment Skills

 

Software Skills Experience utilizing HCM Oracle a plus Advanced MS Excel and PowerPoint including Macros, Pivot tables, and vlookups/index-match. Financial Accounting, audit and financial statement analysis. Other Skills

 

Physical Demands Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Work Conditions Work is typically performed in an office environment but may be required to perform job duties outside of the office setting.    Special Schedule Normal business hours; At times, must be willing to work in beyond normal business hours as needed by operational needs and event schedules.
