Fitness Instructor
Position Description: The Fitness Instructor provides on-site or virtual group exercise instruction to Health Initiatives program participants at our family and efficiency studio communities in North and South Austin. The ideal candidate will have a passion for community health and wellness and be motivated to deliver high-quality, culturally sensitive fitness instruction to vulnerable populations. This position is part-time hourly. Fitness Instructors typically work Monday-Thursday (mornings/afternoons, 7:30am-9am, 10am-3pm, or evenings, 6:30pm-8:30pm) with some variation. Primary Duties/Responsibilities + Ensure a safe and welcoming environment for fitness participants from various backgrounds and skill levels, ages 18 + + Provide high-quality, culturally sensitive fitness instruction including modifications to exercise routines when necessary + Manage and maintain class sign-in sheets when in person + Opening/closing duties at worksite(s) + Assist with room set-up and break-down before and after class at properties + Establish and maintain on-going communication with Health Program Manager and FC childcare providers (where applicable) + Demonstrate and promote punctuality/clocking in and out + Provide appropriate music for class Minimum Requirements + Current certification or proof of exercise training course completion- Zumba + Prior experience teaching group fitness classes + High School Diploma or Equivalent + Reliable means of transportation when necessary + Prior experience working with and/or an awareness of the challenges faced by economically disadvantaged families + Ability to communicate via email, and online scheduling platforms + CPR/First Aid Certified Working Conditions An occupational exposure to blood or other potentially infectious materials can be expected. May be asked to clean up bodily fluids with appropriate training and personal protective equipment provided. Physical Requirements  + Standing/running/jogging/exercising for long periods of time. + Lifting or use of weights or bands as appropriate for offered classes. + Lead, instruct, motivate individuals or groups in exercise activities, including cardiovascular exercises, strength training, and stretching.
