Florida Licensed Building Inspector (BN)

Summary The Building Inspector is a key role, responsible for performing highly technical inspection work for the day-to-day completion of building inspections (Building, Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing).The ideal candidate is a reliable, trustworthy individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment where both collaboration and autonomy are valued.

Physical Demands & Work Environment: • Required to drive, stand, walk, use hands to type, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance, talk, and hear; body motions and movements include: bending, twisting, reaching, stooping, pulling, kneeling, lifting, carrying, and pushing • Lifting and/or moving up to 35 lbs regularly on average, and up to 75 lbs on occasion, with or without reasonable accommodation • This job is located in Florida, with exposure to intense sun, intense heat, humidity, rain, thunderstorms, and other adverse weather conditions • Job site conditions may or may not be accessible by vehicle and can include wetlands, swamps, grasslands, and fields with uneven surfaces, sand, brush, and other natural and man-made obstacles. • This job is primarily and regularly exposed to outside weather conditions and construction sites where the noise level is usually moderate to loud 
Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesPerform Structural Building Inspection duties (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing as licensed). Inspect commercial and residential buildings, which are under construction or are being repaired, remodeled or enlarged and is performed during various stages of completion to ensure structural integrity and compliance with building codes/ordinancesDetermines whether changes may be required in plans and makes recommendations to contractors, engineers, architects, etc.Performs inspections of foundations, concrete slabs, framing, roofing, and related construction workMaintains accurate, complete, and current inspection recordsExercises tact and courtesy when conducting inspections and dealing with clientsPrepare reports and report data in a complete, timely and understandable fashion and return as required to branch office. Complete daily time and labor reports in accordance with company policyOversee maintenance of company vehicle (take in to shop for routine maintenance including oil changes, tire pressure, fluid levels, etc)Cellular phones are to be worn at all times and calls are to be returned immediatelyEnsure that project requirements are met and compliant with inspection specifications, requirements and company policies or proceduresAttend all department meetingsDrive to various job sites at locations both locally and throughout the State of Florida. Follow all Driving Laws when driving company vehicleWork varying shift schedules as neededMust be willing to travel within the state of Florida, if applicableComplete daily time and labor reports in accordance with company policyTurn in required paperwork dailyRegular attendance is requiredMust be flexible to changing schedules and hours to support business needs. Overnight and weekends schedules may be necessary to support business needsFollow all company safety procedures and policiesOther duties may be assignedRequired QualificationsValid Florida Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record (in accordance with our Driver’s License and Motor Vehicle Record Check Criteria)Ability to pass a background check screening in accordance with Florida’s Jessica Lunsford Act (or equivalent state classification)Must be able to read and interpret plans, blueprints and specifications.State of Florida Standard Building Inspector License is requiredAbility to read & write, including interpreting documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals, as well as the ability to write routine reports and correspondence and speak effectively with colleagues, supervisors, and customers/clientsComputer skills sufficient to operate a laptop, including sending and receiving emails, and the ability to learn Field Data Collection (FDC)/Inspector Gadget to input data and prepare reportsMathematical skills sufficient to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimalsReasoning ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, and diagram formPreferred Qualifications State of Florida Electrical Inspector License State of Florida Mechanical Inspector License State of Florida Plumbing Inspector License State of Florida Residential Inspector License Building Code Administrator State of Florida Commercial Building License
